  1. 1. Neonatal water and heat exchange : The influence of environmental factors and infant maturity

    Författare :Gunnar Sjörs; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatrics; Neonatal; transepidermal water loss; respiratory water loss; radiant heat; heat exchange; water loss; incubators; Pediatrik; Paediatric medicine; Pediatrisk medicin; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : The environment provided by commonly used infant incubators, the effect of radiantheat and exposure to cold air on the exchange of water and heat between newborninfants and their environment, and the water loss through the skin of infants born at24-25 weeks of gestation were investigated. The evaporation of water from the skinwas measured by the gradient method. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Thermodynamic aspects and heat transfer characteristics of HiTAC furnaces with regenerators

    Författare :Nabil Rafidi; Wlodzimierz Blasiak; John Witton; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Combustion; flameless; oxy-fuel; heat-recirculation; gas-recirculation; heat transfer; furnace; radiant-tube; regenerative burner; honeycomb; fixed-bed; Thermal energy engineering; Termisk energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Oxygen-diluted Combustion (OdC) technology has evolved from the concept of Excess Enthalpy Combustion and is characterized by reactants of low oxygen concentration and high temperature. Recent advances in this technology have demonstrated significant energy savings, high and uniform thermal field, low pollution, and the possibility for downsizing the equipment for a range of furnace applications. 3. 3. Outdoor heat in urban areas - Model development and applications

    Författare :Nils Wallenberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mean radiant temperature; Urban Climate; SOLWEIG; Outdoor Thermal Comfort;

    Sammanfattning : Heat waves and high outdoor air temperature can lead to heat stress with negative implications for human health and wellbeing such as heat stroke, heat cramps, dehydration and in extreme cases death. The urban population is at higher risk of such outcomes because of the generally warmer urban climate. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Thermal system analysis of embedded building integrated heating - Numerical model and validation of hydronic floor heating systems

    Författare :Henrik Karlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; radiant heating; floor heating; low temperature hydronic heating; whole building thermal system analysis; Simulink modelling; Building integrated heating;

    Sammanfattning : A numerical simulation tool for building integrated heating (BIH) systems is developed. BIH is defined as a heat supply system that maintains the indoor thermal comfort within acceptable limits by means of a controlled heat supply to the inner of the building envelope/structure. 5. 5. Damage mechanisms for near-infrared radiation induced cataract

    Författare :Zhaohua Yu; Per Söderberg; Konstantin Galichanin; Masami Kojima; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; infrared radiation; photochemical; thermal; forward light scattering; lens; cataract; temperature; Arrhenius equation; heat diffusion;

    Sammanfattning : Purpose: 1) To estimate the threshold dose and the time evolution for cataract induction by near infrared radiation (IRR) in seconds exposure time domain; 2) to determine the ocular temperature development during the threshold exposure; 3) to investigate if near IRR induces cumulative lens damage considering irradiance exposure time reciprocity; 4) to experimentally estimate the temperature in the lens indirectly from the measurement of temperature-induced light scattering increase.Methods: Before exposure, 6-weeks-old albino rats were anesthetized and the pupils of both eyes were dilated.
