16. Modelling and simulation of paper structure development
Sammanfattning : A numerical tool has been developed for particle-level simulations of fibre suspension flows, particularly forming of the fibre network structure of paper sheets in the paper machine. The model considers inert fibres of various equilibrium shapes, and finite stiffness, interacting with each other through normal, frictional, and lubrication forces, and with the surrounding fluid medium through hydrodynamic forces. 17. Online characterization of wood pulp : foundations for a photoacoustic sensing technique
Sammanfattning : Today, there is an increasing demand in the paper industry for better utilisation of the raw material and improved energy efficiency. Also, the increasing use of recycled paper in the manufacturing process leads to a situation where the knowledge of pulp properties needs to be improved and controlled. LÄS MER
18. Image-based quantitative infrared analysis and microparticle characterisation for pulp and paper applications
Sammanfattning : Measurements of process variations and particle morphology are widely employed in the pulp and paper industry. Two techniques with high potential, infrared thermography and microparticle characterisation, are mainly used qualitatively. LÄS MER
19. A Novel Fiber Interaction Method for Simulation of Early Paper Forming
Sammanfattning : In the forming section of a paper machine, a fiber suspension is flowing down onto a forming fabric, and a paper structure is formed. By using computer simulations this process can be studied, attaining new knowledge helping to improve paper quality and machine efficiency. LÄS MER
20. Fibre suspension flocculation under simulated forming conditions
Sammanfattning : A flow loop system for study of fibre flocculation insuspensions has been developed. The system is designed tosimulate the flow conditions in a paper machine headbox. It isequipped with a radial distributor feeding a step diffuser pipepackage, after which the flow is contracted in a 2-D nozzle. LÄS MER
