  1. 21. Simulating Transport and Understanding Future Fluxes of Organic Carbon in Rivers Draining into the Baltic Sea

    Författare :Kim Dahlgren Strååt; Emma Undeman; Martyn Futter; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Riverine organic (TOC, Total Organic Carbon) and inorganic (DIC, Dissolved Inorganic Carbon) carbon are the main sources of carbon in the Baltic Sea. While the importance of this contribution has been evaluated, there are currently several gaps in our knowledge of the mechanisms governing organic carbon dynamics in this region, especially for the particulate form, and the impact of future climate change on organic carbon transport. 2. 22. Bio-optics, satellite remote sensing and Baltic Sea ecosystems : Applications for monitoring and management

    Författare :Therese Harvey; Susanne Kratzer; Jakob Walve; Petra Philipson; Stiig Markager; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bio-optics; Remote sensing; MERIS; Eutrophication; Baltic Sea; Monitoring; Management; WFD; MSFD; HELCOM; Chlorophyll-a; Secchi depth; Coloured Dissolved Organic Matter; Suspended Particulate Matter; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Earth observation satellites cover large areas with frequent temporal repetition and provide us with new insight into ocean and coastal processes. Ocean colour measurements from satellite remote sensing are linked to the bio-optics, which refers to the light interactions with living organisms and dissolved and suspended constituents in the aquatic environment. 3. 23. Physicochemical properties and atmospheric ageing of soot - investigated though aerosol mass spectrometry

    Författare :Axel Eriksson; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Black carbon; soot; vehicle exhausts; wood stove emissions; atmospheric processing; SP-AMS;

    Sammanfattning : Aerosol particles contribute significantly to the global burden of disease, and remain the main source of uncertainty in assessments of human-induced climate change. The microphysical characterization of particles is necessary to understand the roles they play in the detrimental effects of air pollution on human health, and in the energy budget of our planet. 4. 24. Born in fire, borne by air : Source attribution and physicochemical characterization of ship and ambient aerosols in the Baltic region

    Författare :Stina Ausmeel; MERGE: ModElling the Regional and Global Earth system; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; anthropogenic air pollution; aerosol; black carbon; plumes; ship emissions; absorption; source apportionment; climate; Fysicumarkivet A:2020:Ausmeel;

    Sammanfattning : Aerosol emissions from anthropogenic activities cause detrimental health effects and affect the climate system. Combustion is a large source of airborne fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and the uncertainties of the climate role of these emissions are still large. LÄS MER

  5. 25. 14C Produced by Nuclear Power Reactors - Generation and Characterization of Gaseous, Liquid and Solid Waste

    Författare :Åsa Magnusson; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; waste disposal; spent ion-exchange resins; mass balance assessment; Nuclear physics; environmental impact; Fysicumarkivet A:2007:Magnusson; nuclear power plant; Kärnfysik; Carbon-14;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the results from studies on carbon-14 produced by nuclear power reactors. Radioactive 14C enters the carbon cycle and can be taken up by humans, where it will constitute a potential health hazard. LÄS MER
