  1. 1. Characterization of suspended particulate matter from freshwater : validation of a field filtration technique

    Författare :Fredrik Ödman; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Sammanfattning : A field filtration method for the concentration and separation of suspended particulate matter (SPM) from freshwater systems and the subsequent determination of major, minor, trace and ultra trace elements (Al, As, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cs, Cu, Fe, Ga, Hf, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Nb, Ni, P, Pb, Rb, S, Sb, Sc, Si, Sn, Sr, Ta, Th, Ti, Tl, U, V, W, Zn and Zr) is validated with respect to detection limits, precision, and bias. The validation comprises the whole procedure including filtration, sample digestion and instrumental analysis. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Treatment conditions for the removal of contaminants from road runoff

    Författare :Magnus Hallberg; Gunno Renman; Jiri Marsalek; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; dissolved matter; filter bed; particulate matter; sedimentation; suspended solids; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The pollutant load in road runoff is related to traffic densities and road maintenance activities. Inurbanised areas treatment of road runoff is common and often considered necessary. The pollutantsare partitioned between the particulate and dissolved matter. However, the contaminantstend to have an affinity to the particulate material. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Bio-optics, satellite remote sensing and Baltic Sea ecosystems : Applications for monitoring and management

    Författare :Therese Harvey; Susanne Kratzer; Jakob Walve; Petra Philipson; Stiig Markager; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bio-optics; Remote sensing; MERIS; Eutrophication; Baltic Sea; Monitoring; Management; WFD; MSFD; HELCOM; Chlorophyll-a; Secchi depth; Coloured Dissolved Organic Matter; Suspended Particulate Matter; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Earth observation satellites cover large areas with frequent temporal repetition and provide us with new insight into ocean and coastal processes. Ocean colour measurements from satellite remote sensing are linked to the bio-optics, which refers to the light interactions with living organisms and dissolved and suspended constituents in the aquatic environment. 4. 4. Light conditions in seasonally ice-covered waters : within the Baltic Sea region

    Författare :Elina Kari; Susanne Kratzer; Matti Leppäranta; Monika Winder; Tiit Kutser; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Seasonal sea ice; Fast ice; Drift ice; Phytoplankton spring bloom; Under-ice plume; Turbidity; Suspended particulate matter; Chlorophyll; Coloured dissolved organic matter; Baltic Sea; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Seasonal ice cover is a major driver of seasonality in aquatic ecosystems in the Baltic Sea region. Ice cover influences the underwater light conditions directly by limiting the light transfer and indirectly by modifying the mixing and circulation under the ice. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Suspended particulate matter, sedimentation and early diagenetic processes in the Kalix River estuary, northern Sweden

    Författare :Anders Widerlund; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Sammanfattning : Many important reactions controlling the transfer of elements from the continents to coastal waters and the oceans are taking place in estuaries. For many elements, estuaries can act as filters, capable of reducing the river load of dissolved and particulate elements to the oceans. LÄS MER
