  1. 1. Human muscle spindles : complex morphology and structural organisation

    Författare :Jing-Xia Liu; William K. Ovalle; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :human; muscle spindle; intrafusal fiber; aging; biceps brachii; deep muscles of the neck; MyHC; mATPase; SERCA; anatomi; Human Anatomy;

    Sammanfattning : Muscle spindles are skeletal muscle mechanoreceptors that mediate the stretch reflex and provide axial and limb position information to the central nervous system. They have been proposed to play a major role in the pathophysiology of muscle pain. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Satellite cells in human skeletal muscle : molecular identification quantification and function

    Författare :Mona Lindström; Lars-Eric Thornell; Hannu Kalimo; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; satellite cell markers; NCAM; Pax7; MyoD; myogenin; DLK1 FA1; c-Met; human skeletal muscle; immunohistochemistry; muscle growth; muscle hypertrophy; Morphology; cell biology; pathology; Morfologi; cellbiologi; patologi; anatomi; Human Anatomy;

    Sammanfattning : Skeletal muscle satellite cells located between the plasma membrane and the basal lamina of muscle fibres, could for many years, only be studied in situ by electron microscopy. The introduction of immunohistochemistry and the discovery of molecular markers of satellite cells then made them accessible for light microscopic studies and a wealth of information is today available. 3. 3. Human olfaction : Associations with longitudinal assessment of episodic memory, dementia, and mortality risk

    Författare :Ingrid Ekström; Jonas Olofsson; Maria Larsson; Devangere Devanand; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; olfaction; odor identification; self-assessments; aging; episodic memory; ApoE; dementia; Alzheimer’s disease; vascular dementia; mortality; cohort study; population-based.; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : A declining sense of smell is a common feature in older age. Above and beyond diminished smelling capacity due to normal processes of human aging, impairments in olfactory function have also been linked to numerous ill-health related outcomes, such as cognitive dysfunctions, dementia pathology and even an increased risk of death. 4. 4. Aspects of the human enteric nervous system : A study of the normal development and of Hirschsprung's disease

    Författare :Tomas Wester; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; enteric nervous system; Hirschsprung s disease; intestinal neuronal dysplasia; neuron density; nitric oxide; bcl-2; interstitial cells of Cajal; c-kit; human; fetal; development; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Thirty patients with Hirschsprung's disease (HD) who underwent Rehbein's anterior resection, using a circular stapler to perform the anastomosis, were evaluated retrospectively. The postoperative complication rate and long-term functional outcome were similar to those reported by other investigators using the same and other techniques. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Human Endometrial Angiogenesis : An Immunohistochemical Study of the Endometrial Expression of Angiogenic Growth Factors and Their Corresponding Receptors

    Författare :Björn Möller; Matts Olovsson; Bo Lindblom; Kristina Gemzell-Danielsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Human endometrium; angiogenesis; menstrual cycle; endothelial cells; immunohistochemistry; western blot; VEGF; VEGFR; FGF-2; FGFR; EGF; EGFR; levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : The human endometrium undergoes dramatic changes in morphology and function during the menstrual cycle. Recurrent angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels) is of utmost importance for oxygen supply and nourishment of the rapidly growing endometrial tissue. LÄS MER
