  1. 1. Human muscle spindles : complex morphology and structural organisation

    Författare :Jing-Xia Liu; William K. Ovalle; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :human; muscle spindle; intrafusal fiber; aging; biceps brachii; deep muscles of the neck; MyHC; mATPase; SERCA; anatomi; Human Anatomy;

    Sammanfattning : Muscle spindles are skeletal muscle mechanoreceptors that mediate the stretch reflex and provide axial and limb position information to the central nervous system. They have been proposed to play a major role in the pathophysiology of muscle pain. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Myofibrillens finstruktur i tvärstrimmig skelettmuskulatur

    Författare :Anne-Christine Edman; Michael Sjöström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Muscle; muscle fibre; fibre type; myofilament; A-band; M-band; cryo-ultramicrotomy; electron microscopy; image analysis;

    Sammanfattning : The detailed structure of the myofibrillar material in fibres from different muscles has been studied. Specimens have been obtained from human muscles and from different muscles frequently examined in experimental studies. Both light- and electron microscopical techniques have been used. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Effects of ageing on contractility and myosin composition of rat and man skeletal muscles and muscle cells : with special reference to muscle adaptability

    Författare :Xiaopeng Li; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ageing; hyperthyroidism; skeletal muscle; single skinned fibre; isometric twitch; slack test; shortening velociy; electrophoresis; myosin isoform; immunocytochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this thesis were to characterize the effects of ageing on the contractile and biochemical properties of fast- and slow-twitch skeletal muscles at the whole muscle and single fibre level in an attempt to improve our understanding of the mechanisms underlying the age-related impairments of muscle fibres. Specific interest was in the adaptability of skeletal muscle and the regulation of speed of shortening at single-cell level in the rat and man. LÄS MER
