11. Search for New Scalar Particles with ATLAS
Sammanfattning : The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is currently the most powerful particle accelerator ever built. It accelerates protons and collides them at the center of mass energy of √s = 13 TeV. LÄS MER
12. Investigation of GaAs structures for microstrip detectors
Sammanfattning : The performance of Gallium Arsenide p-i-n detectors afterneutron irradiation has been studied. The detectors have beenirradiated with » 6 MeV neutrons at various neutronfluences up to approximately 6 ¢ 1014 n/cm2, protons andmixed beam up to 1015 p/cm2. LÄS MER
13. Axionlike particles, quantum loops, and supernovae : The role of quantum loop corrections for astrophysical ALPs
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the quantum field theory and astrophysical phenomenology of axionlike particles (ALPs) are studied. The effective field theory of ALPs is reviewed with a special focus on quantum loops, the renormalization group equations, and the equivalent forms of the interaction between ALPs and fermions. 14. The fundamental structure of matter
Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is "the fundamental structure of matter, that is, the quest of understanding the deepest level of the physical world, and the interactions relevant at that level. The hope is that, as one goes deeper, the laws are going to be simpler, not necessarily in mathematical terms, but in conceptual terms. LÄS MER
15. New atomic masses related to fundamental physics measured with SMILETRAP
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the recent improvements of the SMILETRAP Penning trap mass spectrometer and a number of interesting high precision mass measurements, which have been performed using the improved apparatus, and are relevant in todays fundamental physics problems. The mass of the hydrogen-like 24,26Mg ions as well as the masses of the hydrogen- and lithium-like 40Ca ions are presented in this work that are indispensable input values when evaluating g-factor measurements of the bound electron.
