16. Surface nanomechanical properties of hydrogels and coatings
Sammanfattning : Characterizing mechanical and wear properties at the nanometer scale emerged as a fascinating and challenging topic in the last decades due to recognition of many interesting and unusual properties of nanomaterials. Due to recent developments of the atomic force microscopy (AFM) technique, it is now possible to measure nanomechanical properties and topography simultaneously, as well as performing and evaluating wear measurements at the nanometer scale. 17. Porous materials based on nanopolysaccharides for medical applications: Effect of crosslinking on pore structure and mechanical performance
Sammanfattning : The objective of this work was to develop nanochitin- and nanocellulose-based crosslinked porous nanostructured materials for wound dressing and cartilage repair with suitable porosity and mechanical properties to facilitate cell growth. In the first part of the work (papers I-III), chitosan-based nanocomposites loaded with a high concentration (50 wt%) of chitin nanocrystals (ChNC) and cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) were prepared via electrospinning for use as wound dressing materials. 18. Systematic Studies of Triplet Annihilating Species for Photochemical Upconversion
Sammanfattning : With climate change already setting new temperature records and causing more extreme weather events, transitioning to clean and renewable energy sources is more urgent than ever. Solar energy harvesting arguably holds the most promise with the abundance of terrestrial sunlight available. LÄS MER
19. Computational Studies of Cellulose-based Materials
Sammanfattning : Cellulose is a remarkable organic biopolymer and sustainable raw material existing in nature. Over the past several decades, the study of cellulose materials has attracted significant attention in chemistry, physics, biomedicine, and engineering fields. LÄS MER
20. The Study of II-VI Semiconductor Nanocrystals Sensitized Solar Cells
Sammanfattning : Semiconductor nanocrystals, also referred to as quantum dots (QDs), have been the focus of great scientific and technological efforts in solar cells, as a result of their advantages of low-cost, photostability, high molar extinction coefficients and size-dependent optical properties. Due to the multi-electron generation effect, the theoretically maximum efficiency of quantum dots-sensitized solar cells (QDSCs) is as high as 44%, which is much higher than that of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs).
