6. Sediment resuspension : Impacts and extent of human disturbances
Sammanfattning : Resuspension of sediment by anthropogenic disturbances is a concern due to the impacts it has on organisms and ecosystems. Bottom trawling is one major cause of sediment resuspension. A field study showed that a small trawl created a sediment plume 120 - 150 m wide and 15-18 m high (Paper 1). The sediment in the same study was highly contaminated. LÄS MER
7. Fundamental Limitations of Distributed Feedback Control in Large-Scale Networks
Sammanfattning : Networked systems accomplish global behaviors through local feedback interactions. The purpose of a distributed control design is to select interaction rules and control protocols that achieve desired global control objectives. LÄS MER
8. Hemostatic disturbances in acute ischemic stroke
Sammanfattning : Background: Stroke is the 2nd most common cause of death after ischemic heart disease. About 85% of all strokes are caused by a thrombus or an embolus in the cerebral circulation. Stroke causes major handicap with impaired quality of life for the patients and their families and a large costs to society. LÄS MER
9. On performance limitations of large-scale networks with distributed feedback control
Sammanfattning : We address the question of performance of large-scale networks with distributed feedback control. We consider networked dynamical systems with single and double integrator dynamics, subject to distributed disturbances. We focus on two types of problems. First, we consider problems modeled over regular lattice structures. LÄS MER
10. Wind-turbine wake flows - Effects of boundary layers and periodic disturbances
Sammanfattning : The increased fatigue loads and decreased power output of a wind turbine placed in the wake of another turbine is a well-known problem when building new wind-power farms and a subject of intensive research. These problems are caused by the velocity gradients and high turbulence levels present in the wake of a turbine. LÄS MER
