  1. 1. Non-conventional risk and prognostic factors in coronary heart disease : studies on heart rate variability, alcohol consumption, inflammation and depression

    Författare :Imre Janszky; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background and aims: Although, there has been a drop in age-specific coronary heart disease (CHD) incidence, and its prognosis has improved considerably in most parts of the industrialized world, CHD is still by far the leading cause of death in industrialized countries. The established, conventional risk factors, i.e. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Adopting Information Systems Perspectives from Small Organizations

    Författare :Özgün Imre; Alf Westelius; Carl-Johan Petri; Nils-Göran Olve; Malin Gawell; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; information system adoption; small organizations; discourse; negotiation; stakeholder theory; social worlds; Economic Information Systems; Ekonomiska informationssystem;

    Sammanfattning : Why do organizations adopt information systems? Is it just because of financial reasons, of concerns for efficiency? Or is it due to external pressures, such as competitor pressure, that an organization adopts an information system?And, how does the adoption take place? Is it a linear process, or is the process one of  conflicts? Does a specific person govern this process, or do we have multiple parties involved? What happens if these conflicts occur among those involved? How does the organization move on and achieve a successful information system adoption?By investigating two organizations, one international academic journal and one South American manufacturing company, this thesis aims to investigate the whys and hows of information system adoption, and aims to contribute to the discourse on information system adoptions in small organizations – an often underrepresented segment in information system adoption literature.By adopting different theoretical lenses throughout the five research papers included, this body of work suggests that even when seemingly simple, information system adoptions can become rather complex. 3. 3. Classical and Car-Parrinello Molecular Dynamics Simulations of Polyvalent Metal Ions in Water

    Författare :Sami Amira; Kersti Hermansson; Imre Bako; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inorganic chemistry; Car-Parrinello molecular dynamics simulations; ab initio calculations; ion; copper; aluminium; metal ion; water; aqueous solution; solvation; Oorganisk kemi; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The aqueous solvation of metal ions is one of the long-standing and complex problems in chemistry, with implications for and applications in a broad range of biochemical and electrochemical systems, where water is the all-pervasive medium.This thesis describes computer simulations of Al3+(aq), Fe2+(aq), Fe3+(aq) and Cu2+(aq). 4. 4. Temperature dependent mechanical properties of as-cast steels : Experimental and theoretical studies

    Författare :Zhihua Dong; Levente Vitos; Imre Bakonyi; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : The temperature-dependent mechanical properties of steels are important to avoid processing defects, to understand and to improve the high-temperature performance. At the same time, having access to thermal properties gives us opportunity to assess the first-principles theoretical predictions at elevated temperatures. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Oxidation and reduction reactions of the water-oxidizing complex in photosystem II

    Författare :Long Vo Pham; Johannes Messinger; Imre Vass; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photosystem II PSII ; oxidation; reduction; flash induced oxygen evolution pattern FIOP ; water; oxygen; global fitting program GFP ; thylakoids; fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The oxygen that we breathe and food that we eat are products of the natural photosynthesis. Molecular oxygen is crucial for life on Earth owing to its role in the glycolysis and citric acid pathways that yield in aerobic organisms the energy-rich ATP molecules. LÄS MER
