  1. 1. Sensorimotor behavior in children born preterm and adolescents with Cerebral Palsy : Side preference, movement organization, and training

    Författare :Anna-Maria Johansson; Louise Rönnqvist; Erik Domellöf; Janette Atkinson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; prematurity; preterm; children; cerebral palsy; movement organization; movement performance; goal-directed; laterality; handedness; intelligence; cognition; synchronized metronome training; intervention; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Preterm birth (< 37 complete gestation weeks, GWs) is the single most prominent risk factor for the development of cerebral palsy (CP). This is due to the immature physiological state of the preterm born infant which increases the risk of brain lesions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Evolution of the subcortical circuits controlling goal-directed behaviour

    Författare :Marcus Stephenson-Jones; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the work presented in this thesis was to reconstruct the minimal neural hardware that vertebrates use for goal-directed behaviour. By studying lamprey, one of the phylogenetically oldest vertebrates, we were able to identify the neural circuitry that has been conserved since jawed and jawless vertebrates diverged over 560 million years ago. 3. 3. Psychotropic Pharmaceuticals in Aquatic Systems: An Ecological Perspective

    Författare :Melanie Hedgespeth; Enhet akvatisk ekologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ecotoxicology; aquatic; trophic level; pharmaceutical; SSRI; beta-blocker; sertraline; fluoxetine; propranolol; fish; daphnia; snail; predator; prey; behavior; life history; multiple stressor;

    Sammanfattning : Psychotropic pharmaceuticals have been shown to exert a variety of sublethal effects on non-target organisms, even at low concentrations found in the environment (ng/L to µg/L); hence, the aim of my research has been to determine the individual-level effects of psychotropic pharmaceuticals (the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors sertraline and fluoxetine, and the β-blocker propranolol) on behavioral and life history traits in freshwater organisms. Further, this research was directed towards assessing the potential large-scale impacts of these effects on population growth and predator-prey interactions (with community-level implications) via the application of traditional, ecological concepts and models. 4. 4. Eliciting cues to true and false intentions by strategic questioning

    Författare :Tuule Sooniste; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; deception detection; true and false intention; strategic interviewing; unanticipated questions; cells of suspects; goal directed behavior; consistency;

    Sammanfattning : For many legal and intelligence settings it is necessary to assess whether a stated intention is true or false. The 9/11-Attack (NYC) demonstrates the potential value of increased accuracy in discriminating between true and false intentions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Factors influencing actors at the interface between the socio-technical and the ecological systems: The case of on-site sewage systems and eutrophication

    Författare :Are Wallin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; social dilemma; Eutrophication; regulatory compliance; goal-framing theory; on-site sewage systems; homeowners;

    Sammanfattning : Eutrophication, caused by nutrient loading, is a global environmental problem, particularly severe for the Baltic Sea. Long-term solutions rely on the ability of society to respond effectively. This involves, for example, instigating actors who have the capability to directly influence nutrient loads to take action.
