1. Experimental Studies of Turbulent Mixing in Impinging Jets
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the experimental study of mixing and flow characteristic in turbulent circular impinging jets without and with jet orifice manipulators (i.e. passive-fixed perturbations atthe nozzle exit), without and with swirl. LÄS MER
2. Fluid Dynamics in Stirred Vessels - Experiments and simulations of single-phase and liquid-liquid systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis applies experimental measurement techniques and computational fluid dynamics to evaluate turbulent mixing of liquid-liquid systems in stirred vessels. Also studies of macro-instabilities in a single-phase system and how they affect flow and thus mixing are conducted. LÄS MER
3. Investigation of jet pulsation effects on near-nozzle mixing and entrainment
Sammanfattning : Turbulent jet flows are very common in engineering applications. One example is that of fuel injection in internal combustion engines, which is closely related to the combustion process. Because of the widespread use, the resulting emissions of such engines have a significant impact on human health and the environment. LÄS MER
4. Effective Models for Simulation of Thermal Stratification and Mixing Induced by Steam Injection into a Large Pool of Water
Sammanfattning : Steam venting and condensation in a large pool of water creates both a source of heat and a source of momentum. Complex interplay between these two sources leads to either thermal stratification or mixing. LÄS MER
5. Three-wave mixing in Josephson travelling-wave parametric amplifiers
Sammanfattning : This work explores possibilities of building a wide-band, quantum-limited low-noise amplifier by means of three-wave mixing (3WM) in different kinds of Josephson travelling-wave parametric amplifiers (TWPAs). We extend the theory of the continuous three-mode model to include any number of up-converted modes in the small frequency limit where the frequency dispersion is close to linear. LÄS MER
