1. Tackling the Uncertainties of Event Generators
Sammanfattning : This thesis is composed of four papers, which concern Monte Carlo event generators for high energy particle physics. Precise predictions of the outcome of particle collisions are important for the exploration of the Standard Model of particle physics at collider experiments like the LHC at CERN. LÄS MER
2. ALPACA - A kinetic theory Monte Carlo event generator for heavy ion collisions
Sammanfattning : Recent measurements of collective effect-like signals in small collision systems has highlighted the need for new models to explain these phenomena. One good candidate for such a model is the AMY QCD effective kinetic theory, which is valid for systems in- and out-of-equilibrium. LÄS MER
3. Colour Reconnection and Weak Showers
Sammanfattning : This thesis consider the improvement of the simulation tools used to describe high energy particle collisions. These simulation programs are normally referred to as event generators. LÄS MER
4. Structure Functions and Final-State Properties in Deeply Inelastic electron-proton Scattering
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we give a description of the detailed structure of the proton and a description of the final-state properties in electron-proton scattering. Qualitative results, in a purely gluonic scenario with the leading log approximation, and quantitative results, where quarks are included and some sub-leading corrections have been made, are presented. 5. Improving Parton Showers with Fixed Order Matrix Elements
Sammanfattning : This thesis considers numerical simulations of high energy particle collisions, and improvements in the description of multiple collimated jets of hadrons in collision events in particular. In the event simulation software called event generators, the structure of multi-jet events is determined through an interplay of the input calculation, parton showers and phenomenological hadronisation models.
