  1. 21. New innovative methods for non-intrusive optical diagnostics of high-voltage insulator materials

    Författare :Magnus Bengtsson; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atom- och molekylärfysik; Atomic and molecular physics; akustik; optik; optics; acoustics; Electromagnetism; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi; fluorescence; optical diagnostics; high-voltage insulation; remote sensing; polymeric insulators; lidar; biological contamination; Gases; fluid dynamics; plasmas; Gaser; fluiddynamik; plasma; Energy research; Energiforskning; Elektromagnetism;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this PhD thesis work has been to develop optical techniques that can help utility engineers for assessing the state of insulators in service and in a laboratory. The possibilities to use remote laser induced fluorescence for detection and imaging of biological growth such as algae and fungi have been investigated. LÄS MER

  2. 22. The Fate of Sulfur during Oxy-Fuel Combustion

    Författare :Daniel Fleig; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pulverized coal combustion; oxy-coal; SO3; Oxy-fuel; SO2; sulfur;

    Sammanfattning : Oxy-fuel combustion, where air is replaced by O2 and recycled flue-gas to enrich combustion products, is one of the main CO2 capture technologies suitable for large-scale coal-fired power plants. The changed combustion conditions in oxy-fuel combustion influences the sulfur chemistry, which has recently been the subject of increased attention due to the importance of sulfur species in corrosion and flue-gas cleaning issues. 3. 23. MgB2 hot-electron bolometer mixers for sub-mm wave astronomy

    Författare :Evgenii Novoselov; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hot-electron bolometer; gain bandwidth; noise bandwidth; thin film; electron-phonon interaction; noise temperature; THz detector; conversion gain; mixer; magnesium diboride; superconductor;

    Sammanfattning : Spectroscopy and photometry in the terahertz (THz) range of remote space objects allows for a study of their chemical composition, because this range covers rotational lines from simple molecules and electron transition lines from atoms and ions. Due to high spectral resolution, THz heterodyne receivers al- low for studying dynamical properties of space objects manifested in doppler-shifted emission lines. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Surface structure and catalytic activity of Pd and Fe oxide surfaces and thin films

    Författare :Mikhail Shipilin; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Surface X-ray diffraction SXRD ; Heterogeneous catalysis; Pd; PdO; Fe; FeO; Thin films; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Shipilin;

    Sammanfattning : The present work is devoted to atomic scale structural studies of the surfaces of model heterogeneous catalysts relevant to oxidation reactions. A novel approach using high-energy surface X-ray diffraction combined with mass-spectrometry measurements is employed to perform in situ structural characterization of Pd(100) and Pd(553) single crystal surfaces acting as catalysts in the process of CO oxidation under semirealistic conditions. 5. 25. Development of flue gas treatment for small-scale boilers with a focus on particulate matters purification

    Författare :Tayebeh Darbandi; Mikael Risberg; Anna-Lena Ljung; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Small-scale boilers significantly contribute to particle matter (PM) emissions, which adversely affect health and global warming. According to World Health Organization, particulate matter was ranked as the fifth significant parameter in premature death in 2015. LÄS MER
