  1. 16. From emission sources to human tissues: modelling the exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances

    Författare :Melissa Ines Gomis; Ian Cousins; Robin Vestergren; Hermann Fromme; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PFAAs; PFOA; PFOS; fluorinated alternatives; human exposure; pharmacokinetic modelling; hazard assessment; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Produced since the 1950’s, per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFASs) substances are persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic compounds that are ubiquitous in the environment. Being proteinophilic with a tendency to partition to protein-rich tissues, PFASs have been found in human serum worldwide and in wildlife with a predominance of long-chain perfluoroalkyl carboxilic acids (C7-C14 PFCAs) and perfluoroalkyl sulfonic acids (C6-C9 PFSAs). 2. 17. Towards Sustainable Use of Chemicals in the Textile Industry: How life cycle assessment can contribute

    Författare :Sandra Roos; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Toxicity; Textile; LCA; Chemicals; Impact assessment;

    Sammanfattning : The use of chemicals in the textile industry is a topic that has been given increasing attention in recent years. Hazardous chemicals are found in textile consumer products on a regular basis, and there is an increased awareness of the health and environmental impact caused by emissions of hazardous chemicals in the countries where textile production occurs. 3. 18. Evaluation of Regularized Image Reconstruction for Clinical Positron Emission Tomography

    Författare :Elin Lindström; Mark Lubberink; Jens Sörensen; Anders Sundin; Anne Larsson Strömvall; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Positron emission tomography; PET CT; molecular imaging; image reconstruction; regularized reconstruction; quantification; oncology; neurology; cardiology; Medicinsk radiofysik; Medical Radiophysics;

    Sammanfattning : Positron emission tomography (PET) combined with computed tomography (CT) is a widely used noninvasive molecular imaging modality with a broad range of clinical applications in oncology, neurology, and cardiology. Producing imperative image quality and accurate quantification are important driving forces behind the technological advances within PET image reconstruction and system development. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Assessing environmental exposures. Air pollution in Scania, southern Sweden

    Författare :Ralf Rittner; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; air pollution; dispersion modelling; health impact assessment; emission database; Particulate matter PM ; epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The environment where we humans live provides the fundamental requirements we need to survive – food to eat, water to drink, and air to breathe. The quality of these elements has a major impact on human health, as they can contain substances that are detrimental to health. These we call environmental pollutants. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Reducing Carbon Dioxide Emissions from the EU Power and Industry Sectors - An assessment of key technologies and measures

    Författare :Johan Rootzén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; industry; carbon dioxide; cement; European Union; technologies; emission reductions; CCS; power; steel; CO2< sub>; refining; mitigation;

    Sammanfattning : In February 2011, the European Council reconfirmed the goal of reducing EU greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80% by 2050, as compared to the levels in 1990. The power and industrial sectors currently account for almost half of the total GHG emissions in the EU. LÄS MER
