  1. 1. PBDEs in the Environment : Time trends, bioaccumulation and the identification of their successor, decabromodiphenyl ethane

    Författare :Amelie Kierkegaard; Lillemor Asplund; Cynthia de Wit; Michael McLachlan; Jacob de Boer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :PBDE; BDE209; dietary absorption; metabolism; debromination; bioaccumulation; decabromodiphenyl ethane; decabromodiphenyl ether; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are important chemical flame retardants, but also environmental pollutants. Their bromine substitution lends them a different bioaccumulation behaviour than the better studied organochlorines.The contamination of a Swedish lake with lower brominated BDEs was assessed by a retrospective study of pike. 2. 2. Environmental occurrence and behaviour of the flame retardant decabromodiphenyl ethane

    Författare :Niklas Ricklund; Michael McLachlan; Amelie Kierkegaard; Adrian Covaci; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; brominated flame retardant; decabromodiphenyl ether; waste water treatment plant; mass balance; sludge; long range transport; atmospheric deposition; bioaccumulation; bioavailability; Persistent organic compounds; Persistenta organiska föreningar; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The environmental occurrence and behaviour of the brominated flame retardant (BFR) decabromodiphenyl ethane (dbdpe) has only been studied to a limited extent. It is structurally similar to decabromodiphenyl ether (decaBDE), which makes it conceivable that dbdpe may also become an environmental contaminant of concern. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Occupational exposure to brominated flame retardants : With emphasis on polybrominated diphenyl ethers

    Författare :Kaj Thuresson; Åke Bergman; Peter Fürst; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; occupational exposure; Brominated flame retardants; polybrominated diphenyl ethers; air and serum concentrations; decabromodiphenyl ether; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : Brominated flame retardants (BFRs) are a diverse group of chemicals, which are used to slow down or inhibit the development of fires. BFRs are incorporated into a wide range of consumer products that are considered as potential fire hazards, such as TV-sets, household appliances, computers, and textiles. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Persistency, bioaccumulation and toxicity assessment of selected brominated flame retardants

    Författare :Jenny Rattfelt Nyholm; Patrik L. Andersson; Peter Haglund; Mats Tysklind; Walter Vetter; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; persistence; bioaccumulation; toxicity; biodegradation; biotransformation; PBT; read across; soil; earthworm; zebrafish; copepod; BFRs; polybrominated diphenyl ethers; tetrabromobisphenol A; hexabromocyclododecane; hexabromobenzene; 2; 4; 6-tribromophenol; tetrabromobisphenol A; 2-hydroxyethyl ether; 1; 2-dibromo-4- 1; 2-dibromoethyl cyclohexane; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : Brominated flame retardants (BFRs) are chemicals used in e.g. electronic equipment, textiles and plastics for the prevention of fire. Over recent decades, concern has been raised regarding some heavily used BFRs, since the levels in the environment have been increasing. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Synthesis and characterization of highly polybrominated diphenyl ethers

    Författare :Daniel Teclechiel; Göran Marsh; Vladimir Nikiforov; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry; miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) make up an important class of brominated flame retardants. The present production is mainly concentrated to DecaBDE but until recently also a significant production of PentaBDE and OctaBDE took place, leaving us with a large number of different PBDE congeners.
