  1. 1. Trends and exposure of naturally produced brominated substances in Baltic biota - with focus on OH-PBDEs, MeO-PBDEs and PBDDs

    Författare :Karin Löfstrand; Lillemor Asplund; Åke Bergman; Adrian Covaci; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Batlic Sea; Natural production; OH-PBDE; MeO-PBDE; PBDD; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The semi-enclosed and brackish Baltic Sea has become heavily polluted by nutrients, anthropogenic organic and inorganic chemicals via human activities. Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) have been thoroughly investigated due to their linkage to toxic effects observed in Baltic biota. There has been far less focus on semi-persistent pollutants e. 2. 2. Cats as a biomarker for exposure to POPs in home environments : – with focus on brominated chemicals and associations to feline hyperthyroidism

    Författare :Jessica Norrgran Engdahl; Åke Bergman; Adrian Covaci; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, body burden of brominated chemicals such as polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and brominated phenolic substances are explored. The external exposure of cats to these compounds from house dust and their food was also investigated. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Environmental occurrence and behaviour of the flame retardant decabromodiphenyl ethane

    Författare :Niklas Ricklund; Michael McLachlan; Amelie Kierkegaard; Adrian Covaci; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; brominated flame retardant; decabromodiphenyl ether; waste water treatment plant; mass balance; sludge; long range transport; atmospheric deposition; bioaccumulation; bioavailability; Persistent organic compounds; Persistenta organiska föreningar; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The environmental occurrence and behaviour of the brominated flame retardant (BFR) decabromodiphenyl ethane (dbdpe) has only been studied to a limited extent. It is structurally similar to decabromodiphenyl ether (decaBDE), which makes it conceivable that dbdpe may also become an environmental contaminant of concern. LÄS MER
