21. Computational Multiscale Modeling of Pearlitic Steel
Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis is to investigate the possibilities to describe the mechanical behaviorof a pearlitic steel by using computational homogenization, or multiscale modeling. The proposed model contains three scales: the engineering macroscale, the mesoscale representing the colonies of the pearlite and the microscale containing the individual cementite lamellae and the ferrite matrix. 22. Multiscale Methods for Wave Propagation Problems
Sammanfattning : Simulations of wave propagation in heterogeneous media and at high frequencies are important in many applications such as seismic-, {electro-magnetic-,} acoustic-, fluid flow problems and others. These are classical multiscale problems and often too computationally expensive for direct numerical simulation. LÄS MER
23. Mathematical analysis and approximation of a multiscale elliptic-parabolic system
Sammanfattning : We study a two-scale coupled system consisting of a macroscopic elliptic equation and a microscopic parabolic equation. This system models the interplay between a gas and liquid close to equilibrium within a porous medium with distributed microstructures. We use formal homogenization arguments to derive the target system. LÄS MER
24. Analysis and numerical methods for multiscale problems in magnetization dynamics
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates a multiscale version of the Landau-Lifshitz equation and how to solve it using the framework of Heterogeneous Multiscale Methods (HMM). The Landau-Lifshitz equation is the governing equation in micromagnetics, modeling magnetization dynamics. LÄS MER
25. 3-D rate dependent micromechanical model for polymer composites
Sammanfattning : Fibre reinforced polymeric composites are in high demand in automotive and aviation industries to improve fuel efficiency. However, the dynamic behaviour of composites is not very well understood. LÄS MER
