16. Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor : expression patterns, neuronal transport, regulation, effects, and receptor dependence
Sammanfattning : Background: The mammalian nervous system depends upon trophic proteins for survival, growth and adult maintenance. These trophic factors have also been considered as potential therapeutic agents for treating human neurodegenerative disorders. LÄS MER
17. Murine plasmacytomagenesis : an experimental model of B-cell neoplasia
Sammanfattning : A chromosomal translocation which results in the illegitimate activation of the c-myc proto-oncogene by one of the three immunoglobulin (Ig) loci is invariably associated with human Burkitt's Lymphoma (BL), mouse plasmacytoma (MPC) and rat immunocytomas (RIC). In the MPC system a genetic predisposition linked to the BALB/c strain has been suggested. LÄS MER
18. Valorisation of cereal by-products: a biorefinery approach
Sammanfattning : Cereal by-products are abundant streams of underutilised biomass that have the potential be valorised into various industrial products by means of environmentally friendly processes. In this study, an integrated bioprocess combining subcritical water extraction (SWE) and enzymatic treatment (ET) was proposed to effectively extract arabinoxylans (AX) from cereal by-products. 19. On the assessment of nerve involvement and of dysfunction in patients with spinal pain
Sammanfattning : Nerve involvement originating in the spine can cause pain and/or organ dysfunction. Reliable and valid assessment of nerve involvement is a prime diagnostic task as it may require other than symptomatic treatment. LÄS MER
20. Spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy : new insights into the disease mechanism and prospects for pharmacological therapy
Sammanfattning : Expansion of a polyglutamine-encoding trinucleotide CAG repeat in the androgen receptor (AR) gene causes spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy (SBMA, or Kennedy’s disease). SBMA is an adult-onset disease characterized by progressive muscle weakness and atrophy due to the degeneration of lower motor neurons in the brainstem and spinal cord. LÄS MER
