  1. 1. Functional characterization of the human adenovirus pVII protein and non-coding VA RNAI

    Författare :Raviteja Inturi; Tanel Punga; Goran Akusjarvi; Thomas Dobner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adenovirus; VA RNA; protein VII; Ubiquitination; proteasome; anti-viral; Medical Biochemistry; Medicinsk biokemi; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; Medical Virology; Medicinsk virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Human adenovirus (HAdV) is a common pathogen causing a broad spectrum of diseases. HAdV encodes the pVII protein, which is involved in nuclear delivery, protection and expression of viral DNA. To suppress the cellular interferon (IFN) and RNA interference (RNAi) systems, HAdVs encode non-coding virus-associated (VA) RNAs. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Construction of Adenovirus Vectors for Studies of Protein Function and RNA Interference

    Författare :Saideh Berenjian; Göran Akusjärvi; Mikael Berg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microbiology; Adenovirus; viral vectors; VA RNAI II; RNAi; Tet-ON OFF; RNA splicing; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : During an adenovirus infection the accumulation of alternatively spliced mRNAs is subjected to a tight temporal regulation. The IIIa protein is a structural protein expressed exclusively late after infection. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Adenoviral Control of RNAi/miRNA Pathways in Human Cells

    Författare :Ning Xu; Göran Akusjärvi; Fredrik Söderbom; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adenovirus; RNAi; miRNA; VA RNA; Virology; Virologi;

    Sammanfattning : RNA interference (RNAi) is a diverse, conserved regulatory mechanism in eukaryotic cells, which silences the target gene expression in a homology-dependent manner. Although it has been well documented that RNAi is an antiviral mechanism in plants and insects, it is still unclear whether RNAi naturally limits viral infections in vertebrates. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Adenoviral small non-coding RNAs : A Structural and Functional Charaterization

    Författare :Wael Kamel; Göran Akusjärvi; Ben Berkhout; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :non-coding RNA miRNA mivaRNA canonical Dicer Ago2 TSS m7G Cap Adenovirus replication E2B;

    Sammanfattning : Since their discovery in 1953, adenoviruses have significantly contributed to the understanding of virus-host cell interactions, including mechanistic details of cellular processes such as cell cycle control and alternative RNA splicing. Among the first characterized adenoviral genes were the virus-associated RNAs (VA RNAI/II), which are produced in massive amount during a lytic infection. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Studies on two transcription regulatory proteins : cellular c-Jun and adenovirus E1A

    Författare :Kerstin Sollerbrant; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :adenovirus; EIA; EIB; transcription; CtBP; c-Jun; Gal4;

    Sammanfattning : Adenoviruses cause lytic infections in a range of mammalian cells, but can in certain cases also transform the host cell. The first adenovirus gene to be expressed upon infection is E1A. The E1A gene encodes two major proteins of 243 and 289 amino acids, respectively, both of which serve as key regulators during virus infection. LÄS MER
