    Sammanfattning : Transcription of the HIV-genome is regulated by the interaction of viral long terminal repeat (LTR) cis-acting sequences with a complex of viral regulatory proteins and cellular transcription factors. The complex interplay between the cellular-, and/or viral proteins and LTR of different subtypes may play a role in the control of HIV-1 latency versus activation. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Phase interface and stacking fault are two common planar defects in metallic materials. In the present thesis, the interfacial energy and the generalized stacking fault energy of random alloys are investigated using density functional theory formulated within the exact muffin-tin orbitals (EMTO) method in combination with the coherent-potential approximation (CPA).     Sammanfattning : Accurate initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II depends on general transcription factors (GTFs), which include the TATA-binding protein (TBP) and the transcription factors (TF) IIB, IIF, IIE and IIH. In order to reconstitute mouse transcription in vitro, we cloned the genes encoding mouse TFIIB, and both subunits of TFIIE and TFIIF from a mouse cDNA library. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Heterodimeric complexes between the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH)/PAS (Per-Arnt-Sim) transcription factors, dioxin receptor and Arnt, are involved in mediating cellular responses to 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (dioxin). The unliganded dioxin receptor is found in the cytoplasm complexed with the 90-kDa heat shock protein hsp90, in a latent inactive (non-DNA binding) configuration. LÄS MER
