1. Two photon above threshold ionization in a relativistic framework : Attosecond delays in high Z elements
Sammanfattning : Recent advances in experimental physics opens up for improved time resolution on measurements of ionizing processes in atoms caused by an EM-field. There exist non-relativistic models that describe photo-ionization events involving two photons, for various atoms, where relativistic effects, e.g. spin-orbit interactions, are small. LÄS MER
2. Light-Matter Interaction on the Attosecond Timescale
Sammanfattning : Attosecond science refers to physical processes that occur on the natural timescale of electron motion in atomic and molecular systems. Attosecond time resolution can be obtained experimentally through a process called high-order harmonic generation where sharp attosecond pulses are formed in the time domain. LÄS MER
3. Attosecond Wave Packet Metrology
Sammanfattning : Attosecond pulses allow the study of electrons on their natural timescale. They are created from the interaction of atoms with ultrashort, intense laser pulses whose electric field approaches the strength of inner-atomic electric fields. This thesis presents experiments around the generation, characterization and application of attosecond pulses. LÄS MER
4. Experimental Studies in Chemical Physics
Sammanfattning : Different laser based methods have been applied for studying different aspects on chemical physics. The transition metal containing molecules vanadium oxide (VO), zirconium sulphide (ZrS), zirconium dimer (Zr2) and titanium dimer (Ti2) have been studied in cool molecular beams using two-photon ionization technique. 5. Theoretical study of light-molecule nonlinear interactions
Sammanfattning : The work presented in the thesis concerned theoretical study of light-matter nonlinear interactions. Two important aspects of such interactions have been examined, namely the nonlinear optical properties of a series of organic charge transfer molecules in solutions induced by the laser light and the propagation of the ultrafast high power laser through the nonlinear molecular medium.
