  2. 2. Thermally cured coil-coatings utilizing novel resins and fatty acid methyl esters as reactive diluents

    Författare :Katarina Johansson; Mats Johansson; Rolf van Benthem; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coatings; Coil-coatings; Thermal cure; Reactive diluents; Fatty acids; Transesterification; Hyperbranched polyester resins; Film properties; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Sammanfattning : Solvent-borne thermally cured coil-coating resins contain large amounts of volatile organic solvents in order to obtain suitable flow for film application. This work describes how the expensive and environmental hazardous volatile organic solvent content of a solvent-borne thermally cured polyester/melamine coil-coating system can be reduced by introduction of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) as reactive diluents and modification of the polyester binder resin. 3. 3. Catalytic Upgrading of Waste Oils to Advanced Biofuels – Deactivation and Kinetic Modelling Study

    Författare :Prakhar Arora; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Stearic acid; TEM; Advanced biofuels; NiMo; Catalytic HDO; MoS2; Kinetic modelling; Oleic acid; Hydrodeoxygenation;

    Sammanfattning : The demand for liquid hydrocarbons as transportation fuels is enormous and ever growing. Advanced biofuels is one of the promising solutions to keep pace with the global transition to cleaner energy by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Green plasticizers for PVC - An investigation of renewable alternatives to phthalates derived from vegetable oils or wood industry products

    Författare :Anna Bondeson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PVC; Epoxidized vegetable oils; Crosslinking; Plasticizer; Heat ageing; Lignin.; Tall oil fatty acid;

    Sammanfattning : Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a very versatile thermoplastic because of its ability to solve a broad range of different concentrations of plasticizer. Phthalates are still the most commonly used plasticizer in PVC, but due to public opinion and legislation against phthalates there is a demand in the market for both old and new phthalate free plasticizersProperties of epoxidized oils of soybean (ESBO), canola (ECO), sunflower (ESFO) and safflower (ESAO) were investigated to determine their suitability as plasticizers. 5. 5. Chemo-enzymatic epoxidation: Activity and stability of Candida antarctica lipase B

    Författare :Ulrika Törnvall; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Growing concerns about climate change and depleting fossil feedstocks are driving a shift within the chemical industry from energy-intensive processes to more environmentally sound and sustainable processing using renewable feedstocks. One such process is the utilization of lipases for the chemo-enzymatic epoxidation of vegetable oils and fatty acids. LÄS MER
