16. Crystallization of the superconducting phase in unconventional superconductors
Sammanfattning : Superconductivity is a macroscopic quantum phenomenon, in the sense that a macroscopic number of electrons form a pair condensate, that occupies a single ground state. The electrons in this state are phase-coherent, breaking global U (1)-symmetry, and spatial variations of the phase imply superflows that usually cost kinetic energy, resulting in a uniform and rigid phase. 17. Fundamental Properties of Functional Magnetic Materials
Sammanfattning : Magnetic properties of powders, thin films and single crystals have been investigated using magnetometry methods. This thesis provides analysis and conclusions that are supported by the results obtained from spectroscopic and diffraction measurements as well as from theoretical calculations. LÄS MER
18. On noise and hearing loss : Prevalence and reference data
Sammanfattning : Noise exposure is one of the most prevalent causes of irreversible occupational disease in Sweden and in many other countries. In hearing conservation programs, aimed at preventing noise-induced hearing loss, audiometry is an important instrument to highlight the risks and to assess the effectiveness of the program. LÄS MER
19. Slow progression in HIV-1 infection : clinical, virological and immunological study
Sammanfattning : The aim of the present thesis was to study factors that could possibly influence the course of HIV-1 infection with special emphasis on slow progression of the disease. Clinical, virological and immunological parameters were evaluated. One important clinical factor for the outcome of HIV-1 infection was identified. LÄS MER
20. Integrating Prosody into an Account of Discourse Structure
Sammanfattning : In this thesis a study of discourse segmenting is carried out, which investigates both segment boundaries and segment content. The results are related to discourse theory. We study the questions of how the prosody and the text structure influence subjects' annotations of discourse boundaries and discourse prominence. LÄS MER
