  1. 16. Crystallization of the superconducting phase in unconventional superconductors

    Författare :Patric Holmvall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pattern formation; spontaneous symmetry breaking; Andreev bound states; mesoscopic superconductivity; phase crystals; thin superconducting films; phase transitions; non-local Ginzburg-Landau theory; time-reversal symmetry; flat bands; unconventional superconductivity; quasiclassical theory; translational symmetry; cuprates; inhomogeneous superconductivity;

    Sammanfattning : Superconductivity is a macroscopic quantum phenomenon, in the sense that a macroscopic number of electrons form a pair condensate, that occupies a single ground state. The electrons in this state are phase-coherent, breaking global U (1)-symmetry, and spatial variations of the phase imply superflows that usually cost kinetic energy, resulting in a uniform and rigid phase. 2. 17. Fundamental Properties of Functional Magnetic Materials

    Författare :Magnus Wikberg; Peter Svedlindh; Per Nordblad; Klas Gunnarsson; Amílcar Labarta; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Magnetic anisotropy; magnetic aging; magnetic semiconductors; exchange interactions; magnetic oxides; spin glasses; lithium-ion batteries; short-range magnetic order; Physics; Fysik; Engineering Science with specialization in Solid State Physics; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Magnetic properties of powders, thin films and single crystals have been investigated using magnetometry methods. This thesis provides analysis and conclusions that are supported by the results obtained from spectroscopic and diffraction measurements as well as from theoretical calculations. LÄS MER

  3. 18. On noise and hearing loss : Prevalence and reference data

    Författare :Magnus Johansson; Stig Arlinger; Einar Laukli; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; irreversible occupational disease; noise-induced hearing; noise-induced measurements OAE ; spontaneous otoacoustic emissions SOAE ; transient evoked otoacoustic emissions TEOAE ; distortion product otoacoustic emissions DPOAE ; Audiology; Audiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Noise exposure is one of the most prevalent causes of irreversible occupational disease in Sweden and in many other countries. In hearing conservation programs, aimed at preventing noise-induced hearing loss, audiometry is an important instrument to highlight the risks and to assess the effectiveness of the program. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Slow progression in HIV-1 infection : clinical, virological and immunological study

    Författare :Christina Broström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HIV-1; PHI; prognosis; slow progression; LTNP; longitudinal; specific pattern; HIV-1 RNA; HIV-1 DNA; spontaneous decrease;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the present thesis was to study factors that could possibly influence the course of HIV-1 infection with special emphasis on slow progression of the disease. Clinical, virological and immunological parameters were evaluated. One important clinical factor for the outcome of HIV-1 infection was identified. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Integrating Prosody into an Account of Discourse Structure

    Författare :Sofia Gustafson-Capková; David House; Elisabet Engdahl; Merle Horne; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Discourse structure; Discourse segment; Dialogue; Monologue; Swedish prosody; Speaking style; Linguistics; Lingvistik; Linguistics; lingvistik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis a study of discourse segmenting is carried out, which investigates both segment boundaries and segment content. The results are related to discourse theory. We study the questions of how the prosody and the text structure influence subjects' annotations of discourse boundaries and discourse prominence. LÄS MER
