1. Interaction effects in the transport of particles in nanowire quantum dots
Sammanfattning : Interactions between physical bodies constantly affect their properties. This thesis presents a theoretical study on the effects of interaction in few-body nanowire quantum dots. LÄS MER
2. Quantum Few-Body Physics with the Configuration Interaction Approach: Method Development and Application to Physical Systems
Sammanfattning : This dissertation, based on six included papers, theoretically investigates properties of quantum few-particle systems. An overview of related experimental research - ultra-cold trapped dilute gases, and electrons in quantum dots - is given, followed by a description of some of the studied many-particle phenomena - Bose-Einstein condensation, quantized vortices, Wigner localization and the Tonks-Girardeau gas. 3. Multi-species systems in optical lattices : From orbital physics in excited bands to effects of disorder
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we explore different aspects of the physics of multi-species atomic systems in optical lattices. In the first part we will study cold gases in the first and second excited bands of optical lattices - the p and d bands. LÄS MER
4. On time-frequency analysis and pseudo-differential operators for vector-valued functions
Sammanfattning : This thesis treats different aspects of time-frequency analysis and pseudodifferential operators, with particular emphasis on techniques involving vector-valued functions and operator-valued symbols. The vector (Banach) space is either motivated by an application as in Paper I, where it is a space of stochastic variables, or is part of a general problem as in Paper II, or arises naturally from problems for scalar-valued operators and function spaces, as in Paper V. 5. Electron Transport and Chaos in Model Mesoscopic Systems
Sammanfattning : In this thesis mesoscopic structures intermediate in size between classical macroscopic objects and quantum mechanical objects as atoms are treated. The size of mesoscopic systems are of the same order as the wavelength of the electrons, which makes it necessary to take quantum mechanics into account. LÄS MER
