  1. 1. Identification and investigations of leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domains protein 2 (LRIG2)

    Författare :Camilla Holmlund; Håkan Hedman; Roger Henriksson; Monica Nistér; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LRIG; PDGF; oligodendroglioma; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; onkologi; Oncology;

    Sammanfattning : Receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) constitute a family of proteins controlling cell growth and proliferation and whose activities are tightly controlled in normal cells. LRIG1 is a negative regulator of RTK signaling and is a proposed tumor suppressor. The aim of this thesis was to identify and study possible paralogs of LRIG1. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Preoperative MRI and PET in suspected low-grade gliomas : Radiological, neuropathological and clinical intersections

    Författare :Anna Falk Delgado; Elna-Marie Larsson; Anja Smits; Jens Sörensen; John Hald; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Low-grade glioma; MRI; PET; FA; MD; Perfusion; Diffusion; Neuropathology; Oligodendroglioma; Astrocytoma; PET; tractography; DTI; DTT; Radiologi; Radiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Gliomas are neuroepithelial tumours classified by cell type and grade. In adults, low-grade gliomas are comprised mainly of astrocytomas and oligodendrogliomas grade II. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Metabolomics and proteomics studies of brain tumors : a chemometric bioinformatics approach

    Författare :Lina Mörén; Henrik Antti; Anders Malmendal; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glioblastoma; glioma; meningioma; metabolomics; proteomics; mass-spectrometry; biologisk kemi; biological chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The WHO classification of brain tumors is based on histological features and the aggressiveness of the tumor is classified from grade I to IV, where grade IV is the most aggressive. Today, the correlation between prognosis and tumor grade is the most important component in tumor classification. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Childhood brain tumours : health and function in adult survivors and parental fears

    Författare :Malin Anclair; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Childhood brain tumours; adult survivors; health-related late effects; parental fears;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of the present research was to investigate health and functional ability of patients treated for childhood brain tumour and systematically examine parental fears after a child s brain tumour. The aims were realised through two part-studies. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The expression and molecular functions of LRIG proteins in cancer and psoriasis

    Författare :Terese Karlsson; Håkan Hedman; Mikael Johansson; Roger Henriksson; Kim Jensen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LRIG1; LRIG2; LRIG3; LMO7 lung cancer; glioma; psoriasis; Oncology; onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : The leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domains (LRIG) family consists of three integral membrane proteins that are important in human cancer. LRIG1 is a negative regulator of growth factor signaling. Its expression is associated with longer survival in several cancer types, and the gene has been shown to function as a tumor suppressor.
