  1. 1. Unlocking the hidden diversity of organic-walled microfossils from the early Cambrian of North Greenland

    Författare :Elise Wallet; Sebastian Willman; Ben Slater; Graham Budd; Charles H. Wellman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cambrian; acritarchs; organic-walled microfossils; small carbonaceous fossils; Greenland; diversity; disparity; taxonomy; taphonomy; Crustacea; plankton; Historical Geology and Paleontology; Historisk geologi och paleontologi;

    Sammanfattning : The early Cambrian Buen Formation of North Greenland is celebrated for hosting one of the oldest Cambrian Burgess Shale-type deposits known to date – the Sirius Passet Lagerstätte. Further south in a shallower shelf facies belt, the Buen Formation yielded organic-walled microfossils (OWMs) that were originally described with a focus on acritarchs. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Evolution and taxonomy of Cambrian arthropods from Greenland and Sweden

    Författare :Martin Stein; John S. Peel; Dieter Waloszek; David J. Siveter; Reinhardt M. Kristensen; David L. Bruton; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cambrian; Arthropods; Trilobites; Evolution; Greenland; Sweden; Historical geology and palaeontology; Historisk geologi och paleontologi;

    Sammanfattning : Arthropods have a rich fossil record spanning the Phanerozoic. Biomineralized forms such as the extinct trilobites are particularly common and are proven index fossils for biostratigraphy. Forms with an unmineralized cuticle are more rare, preserved only in so called konservat lagerstätten. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The Early Cambrian Fauna of North-East Greenland

    Författare :Christian B. Skovsted; John S. Peel; Lars E. Holmer; Gerd Geyer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Early Cambrian; Dyeran; Botoman; Biostratigraphy; Palaeogeography; Small Shelly Fossils; Brachiopoda; Mollusca; Hyolitha; Trilobita; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Small shelly fossils are common in sediments of Early Cambrian age and include the earliest common representatives of metazoan animals with mineralized hard parts. The group includes fossils of very different morphology, composition and ultrastructure. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Genomic insights into the population history of circumpolar Arctic dogs

    Författare :Tatiana Richtman Feuerborn; Anders Hansen; Love Dalen; Mikkel Holger Strander Sinding; Kerstin Liden; Matthew Collins; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Dogs; Arctic; Inuit; Migration; Siberia; Greenland; Sled Dog; arkeologi med inriktning mot laborativ arkeologi; Scientific Archaeology;

    Sammanfattning : The Siberian and North American Arctic have both borne witness to numerous migrations of humans and with them their dogs. This PhD thesis is based on whole genome data from 22 Siberian dogs and 72 North American Arctic dogs, in addition to 186 mitochondrial genomes Siberian and North American Arctic dogs. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Long-term changes of mercury, lead and persistent organic pollutants in arctic environments

    Författare :Carola Lindeberg; Ingemar Renberg; Mats Tysklind; Ove Emteryd; Edvard Karlsson; Per Jonsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lake sediment; time trends; chlordane; hexachlorobenzene; mercury; lead; soil; climate changes; Arctic; Greenland; Sweden; Swedish mountains; PCB; PBDE; pesticides; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The Arctic represents a huge area with poor infrastructure contributing to limited possibilities to establish monitoring and research programs. From the investigations that have been performed we know that the arctic environment is affected by anthropogenic emissions from lower latitudes, but knowledge about underlying transport processes, the arctic pollution extent and the rates of changes are limited.
