  1. 1. Volatility and number measurement of diesel engine exhaust particles

    Författare :Hanna Bernemyr; Hans-Erik Ångström; Nigel Clark; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :particle emissions; measuring methods; particle number measurements; dilution; rotating disc diluter; v-TDMA; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Today, emission legislations for engine exhaust particles are mass based. The engines of today are low-emitting with respect to particle mass, with the emissions approaching the detection limit of the current measurement method. This calls for new and improved measurement methods. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Mineral element contents in drinking water - aspects on quality and potential links to human health

    Författare :Ingegerd Rosborg; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknik; Technological sciences; Naturvetenskap; Natural science; water treatment effects; hair concentrations; pH; magnesium; calcium; bicarbonate; drinking water; minerals;

    Sammanfattning : Mineral elements in drinking water have been in focus for more than a decade, especially as the habit of drinking bottled water has increased, not the least among young people. Minerals in drinking water have become more important since minerals in food, especially in vegetables, have decreased substantially the last decades. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Polyelectrolyte - Surfactant Interactions in Dilute Suspensions. A Study Based on Monte Carlo simulations and Mean-Field Calcultations

    Författare :Torsten Wallin; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aggregation number; linear charge density; chain flexibility; mean-field; calculation; simulation; Monte Carlo; cmc; cac; interaction; electrostatic; charged; micelle; polyelectrolyte; surfactant; hydrophilic; hydrophobic; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The complexation of macroions or charged micelles and oppositely charged polyelectrolytes was studied by the use of Monte-Carlo simulations and mean field calculations. The Monte-Carlo simulations were performed on a simple model system with the emphasis on the electrostatic interaction, (i) polyelectrolyte rigidity, (ii) polyelectrolyte linear charge density, (iii) surfactant tail length, and (iv) the polyelectrolyte concentration. 4. 4. Discribing the Auto-Ignition Quality of Fuels in HCCI Engines

    Författare :Per Risberg; David E. Foster; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Auto-Ignition Quality; RON; MON; Cetane Number; HCCI; CAI and Fuels; Other engineering mechanics; Övrig teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : The Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine is a promising engine concept that emits low concentrations of NOx and particulates and still has a high efficiency. Since the charge is auto-ignited, the auto-ignition quality of the fuel is of major importance. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Some factors affecting the amount of residual phase lignin during kraft pulping

    Författare :Mikael E. Lindström; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Deligniflcation; Residual phase lignin; Hydrogensulfide ion; Hydroxide ion; Polysulfides; Ionic strength; Temperature; Lignin; Kraftpulping; Selectivity; viscosity; Kappa number; chemical degradation; Disproportionation; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The amount of lignin which needs to be removed according to the slow residual delignification phase in kraft pulping, i e residual phase lignin, has been studied as a function of the process conditions. The variebles studied were the concentrations of hydroxide ions, hydrogensulfide ions, sodium ions (ionic strength) and temperature. LÄS MER
