1. Application of Fracture Mechanics to Concrete Bridges. Finite element analyses and experiments
Sammanfattning : Material models based on fracture mechanics together with non-linear finite element analyses have been used in combination with experiments to study the behaviour of reinforced concrete bridges. The work covers two aspects of interest in the design of concrete bridges.* The shear behaviour was studied in full-scale tests on two highway bridges. LÄS MER
2. Optimal design solutions of concrete bridges considering environmental impact and investment cost
Sammanfattning : The most used design approach for civil engineering structures is a trial and error procedure; the designer chooses an initial configuration, tests it and changes it until all safety requirements are met with good material utilization. Such a procedure is time consuming and eventually leads to a feasible solution, while several better ones could be found. LÄS MER
3. Optimal design solutions of road bridges considering embedded environmental impact and cost
Sammanfattning : Continuous urbanization and population growth are increasing the demand for transportation infrastructure such as bridges. The construction of these structures represents a significant economic investment for public authorities; moreover, the construction sector accounts for a big portion of CO2 emissions. LÄS MER
4. Load-carrying capacity of a strengthened reinforced concrete bridge : Non-linear finite element modeling of a test to failure. Assessment of train load capacity of a two span railway trough bridge in Örnsköldsvik strengthened with bars of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymers (CFRP)
Sammanfattning : To meet the future traffic demands there is a constant need of making the infrastructure moreeffective. This can be achieved by increasing the capacity and/or life length of traffic lines. LÄS MER
5. Seismic high-frequency content loads on structures and components within nuclear facilities
Sammanfattning : Sweden is generally considered to be a low seismicity area, but for structures within nuclear power facilities, the safety level demand with respect to seismic events are high and thus, these structures are required to be earthquake-resistant. The seismic hazard is here primarily considered to be associated with near-field earthquakes. LÄS MER
