16. Regulation of normal and cancer cells as a base for cell cycle-targeted therapy
Sammanfattning : The majority of current treatments used for treatment of prostate cancer (PCa) and leukemia are often limited to a narrow subsets of treated patients. As such, there still remains a significant scope for gaining deeper understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying cancer metastasis for improvement of targeted treatment. LÄS MER
17. On the Role of the Tumor Suppressor p53 in Leukemic Cell Differentiation
Sammanfattning : Leukemic cells suffer from an impaired ability to differentiate due to inherited or acquired genetic lesions. These genetic changes can sometimes be bypassed with various compounds both in vitro, and, more rarely, in vivo, thus inducing terminal differentiation of the leukemic cells. LÄS MER
18. TRIM22/Staf50 - a novel target gene of the tumor suppressor p53
Sammanfattning : The tumor suppressor gene p53 is a transcription factor that mediates cell cycle arrest, apoptosis and differentiation. p53 mediated differentiation of leukemic cells depends on the transcriptional activity of p53 but so far no obvious differentiation inducing target gene has been identified. 19. On the role of the fusion protein DEK-NUP214 in leukemogenesis
Sammanfattning : The t(6;9) translocation is found in a subset of patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and is associated with a poor prognosis. The translocation results in the formation of the DEK-NUP214 fusion protein containing almost the entire nuclear protein DEK and two thirds of the nucleoporin NUP214. LÄS MER
20. Probalistic Methods In Genomic Data Analysis
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, three aspects of gene expression data analysis are discussed: Differential gene expression is addressed by a probabilistic method. Gene annotation enrichment analysis is discussed in the context of multiple hypothesis testing and the choice of null hypothesis. LÄS MER
