  1. 1. Hematopoiesis in a Crustacean

    Författare :Xionghui Lin; Irene Söderhäll; Kenneth Söderhäll; Michael J. Williams; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; astakine; cytokine; hematopoiesis; prokineticin; transglutaminase; ATP synthase; innate immunity; apoptosis; Immunology; Immunologi; Biology with specialization in Comparative Physiology; Biologi med inriktning mot jämförande fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Hemocytes (blood cells) play an important role in the immune response in invertebrates, and thus the regulation of hemocyte homeostasis (hematopoiesis) is essential for the host survival against pathogens. Astakine 1, a homologue to vertebrate prokineticins, was first identified in the freshwater crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus as a cytokine, and was found to be necessary for new hemocyte synthesis and release in vivo, and also to induce spreading and proliferation of Hematopoietic tissue cells (Hpt cells, precursor of hemocytes) in vitro. 2. 2. The Role of HoxB4 in Hematopoiesis

    Författare :Ann Brun; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; Haematology; extracellular fluids; adenovirus; gene transfer; knock out; HOXB4; HOXB3; homeobox genes; hematopoietic stem cells; Transcription factors; hematopoiesis;

    Sammanfattning : HOXB4 is one of 39 members of the homeobox (HOX) family, a family of transcription factors involved in embryonic development. Several HOX transcription factors, including HOXB4, are highly expressed in hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) but are downregulated upon differentiation towards more mature progeny cells. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The role of TGF-§ in hematopoiesis

    Författare :Jonas Larsson; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Transforming growth factor-§; Cre loxP system; receptor; knockout; embryogenesis; angiogenesis; hematopoiesis; hematopoietic stem cell; inflammation; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Sammanfattning : Transforming growth factor-§ (TGF-§) is a potent, multifunctional growth factor affecting virtually all cell types, regulating critical physiological processes like immune response, wound healing, angiogenesis, and tumor development. A large number of studies in vitro have also implicated a critical role of TGF-§ in regulating hematopoiesis by inhibiting proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). LÄS MER

  4. 4. The Role of Hepatic Leukemia Factor in Hematopoiesis

    Författare :Karolina Komorowska; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hematopoiesis; Hematopoietic Stem Cells; knockout mice; HLF; Transcription Factor; aging;

    Sammanfattning : The development of therapeutic methods based on stem cells (e.g. cell therapy, activating regeneration and organ transplantation), known as regenerative medicine, is still a novel area in the field of life sciences. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Regulation of hematopoiesis by the Smad signaling pathway

    Författare :Ulrika Blank Savukinas; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine human and vertebrates ; retroviral mediated gene expression; conditional knockout; hematopoietic stem cell; hematopoiesis; Transforming growth factor-beta; Smad signaling; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) reside in the bone marrow (BM) of adult individuals and are ultimately responsible for the continuous production of blood cells throughout life. The regulation of HSCs in vivo is tightly regulated by both intrinsic and extrinsic factors. LÄS MER
