  1. 1. Effects of farmland heterogeneity at multiple spatial and temporal scales on house sparrow (Passer domesticus) population ecology

    Författare :Maria von Post; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Farmland heterogeneity; house sparrow; agricultural intensification; farm specialisation; landscape complementation; resource separation; population limitation;

    Sammanfattning : Strong declines of European farmland birds in recent decades are assumed to be caused by decreased food availability resulting from agricultural intensification and concomitant loss of farmland heterogeneity. One of the species suffering particularly strong declines in NW European countries is the house sparrow. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Effects of created habitats on farmland biodiversity

    Författare :Annelie Jönsson; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; agricultural intensification; brown hare; common pheasant; farming intensity; granivorous passerines; grey partridge; habitat creation; landscape heterogeneity; pollinators;

    Sammanfattning : Agricultural intensification has caused severe declines among biodiversity in European farmland over the last half century. The transformation of the agricultural landscape has led to reduced availability of key resources such as food, nesting habitat and shelter. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Small biotopes: Landscape and management effects on pollinators

    Författare :Annika Söderman; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Agri-environmnetal scheme; management; agriculture; landscape complexity; heterogeneity; landscape scale; mall biotopes; field boundaries; pollinating insects; pollination; bumblebees; solitary bees; hoverflies;

    Sammanfattning : The intensification of agriculture during the second half of the twentieth century, has caused sever declines of farmland biodiversity, where loss of semi-natural habitats is one of the major drivers. To halt further loss of habitat and biodiversity, agri-environmental schemes (AES) are used to compensate farmers to use methods less harmful to the environment. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Small biotopes in agricultural landscapes: importance for vascular plants and effects of management

    Författare :Therese Irminger Street; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Small biotopes; incidental habitat; vascular plants; woody vegetation; grassland species; resource provisioning; species richness; habitat specificity; non-crop habitat; landscape complexity; heterogeneity; local management; agri-environment scheme;

    Sammanfattning : As a consequence of agricultural intensification, large areas of non-crop habitat have been lost and farmland biodiversity has declined. Previous studies have shown that the extent of non-crop habitat influences farmland biodiversity, but the relative importance of different habitat types is less well known and the contribution of small incidental habitats to landscape-scale species richness is not fully understood. 5. 5. On the importance of farmland as stopover habitat for migrating birds

    Författare :Juliana Dänhardt; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; conservation; bird migration; agriculture; stopover ecology; Golden plover; Pluvialis apricaria; landscape heterogeneity; organic farming; food availability; earthworms;

    Sammanfattning : Agricultural intensification has led to dramatic population declines among many farmland bird species. Negative effects of intensive farming in terms of decreased local habitat quality or structural simplification of farmland landscapes have reduced both reproductive outcome and winter survival of many species.
