  1. 11. Kinetic investigation of LiMn2O4 for rechargeable lithium batteries

    Författare :Anna-Karin Hjelm; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :linear sweep voltammetry; electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; potential step; in situ X-ray diffraction; microelectrodes; electrode kinetics; LiMn2O4 cathode; rechargeable lithium batteries;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with kinetic characterisation of theinsertion compound LiMn2O4, which is used as positive electrodematerial in rechargeable lithium batteries. Three different typesof electrode configurations have been investigated, namely singleparticles, thin films and composite electrodes. Differentelectrochemical techniques, i.e. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Operando Characterisation of Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

    Författare :Yu-Chuan Chien; Daniel Brandell; Matthew Lacey; Paul Shearing; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lithium–sulfur batteries; operando characterisation; intermittent current interruption; X-ray diffraction; small-angle scattering; electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries have been under the spotlight of research on electrochemical energy storage systems, primarily owing to their high theoretical specific energy (2552 Wh kg-1). So far, Li–S cells on the market have presented a specific energy of 400 Wh kg-1, which is superior to many commercial alternatives, but far below the theoretical value. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Modelling and Experimental Investigation of the Dynamics in Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells

    Författare :Katarina Wiezell; Göran Lindbergh; Lars Pettersson; Anders Dahlkild; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polymer electrolyte fuel cell; modelling; electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; water transport; membrane; Electrochemistry; Elektrokemi;

    Sammanfattning : In polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFC) chemical energy, in for example hydrogen, is converted by an electrochemical process into electrical energy. The PEFC has a working temperature generally below 100 °C. Under these conditions water management and transport of oxygen to the cathode are the parameters limiting the performance of the PEFC. 4. 14. Mechanistic studies of localized corrosion of Al alloys by high resolution in-situ and ex-situ probing techniques

    Författare :Ali Davoodi; Jinshan Pan; Gerald S. Frankel; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; localized corrosion; pitting; aluminum alloy; intermetallic particle; Volta potential; cathodic activity; micro-galvanic effect; size dependence; SKPFM; in-situ AFM; integrated AFM SECM; numerical simulation; micrometer resolution; EIS.; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : A multi-analytical approach based on in-situ and ex-situ local probing techniques was employed to investigate localized corrosion mechanisms of some aluminum alloys in chloride containing solutions, focusing on the influence of intermetallic particles (IMPs) in the alloys. In the EN AW-3003 alloy, SEM-EDS analysis revealed constituent and dispersoid IMPs. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Lipid-Based Surface Modifications: towards the Development of Membrane-Protein Arrays

    Författare :Indriati Pfeiffer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; DNA-array; cholesterol-DNA; EIS; membrane proteins; lipid vesicles; QCM-D; supported lipid bilayer;

    Sammanfattning : Mimics of the natural cell membrane, such as lipid vesicles and supported lipid membranes, have gained significant attention in recent years. This is primarily due to their ability to provide scientists with a model system allowing a large arsenal of scientific tools to be used in studies of biological reactions that are naturally controlled by the cell membrane and its components.
