  1. 1. Conformationally Constrained Nucleosides, Nucleotides and Oligonucleotides : Design, Synthesis and Properties

    Författare :Dmytro Honcharenko; Jyoti Chattopadhyaya; Piet Herdewijn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioorganic chemistry; antisense oligonucleotides; conformationally constrained nucleosides; azetidine; aza-ENA; target affinity; RNase H; exonuclease stability; pyrene-functionalized nucleotides; fluorescence; mismatch discrimination; Bioorganisk kemi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on six original research publications describing synthesis, structure and physicochemical and biochemical analysis of chemically modified oligonucleotides (ONs) in terms of their potential diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Synthesis of two types of bicyclic conformationally constrained nucleosides, North-East locked 1',2'-azetidine and North locked 2',4'-aza-ENA, is described. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Diagnostic Methods for Composite Insulators with Biological Growth

    Författare :Andreas Dernfalk; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; algae; composite insulators; Hough transform; biological contamination; outdoor insulation; digital image analysis; laser-induced fluorescence LIF ; fungi; diagnostic methods;

    Sammanfattning : Composite insulators have a number of advantages compared to conventional insulators, but the fact that they are more prone to aging is a major drawback. For instance, biological growths, like algae and fungi, have been found to colonize composite insulators, and possibly effecting the insulation performance. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Chronic intraoral pain - assessment of diagnostic methods and prognosis

    Författare :Maria Pigg; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neuropathic pain; Orofacial pain; Trigeminal pain; Clinical studies; Prognosis; Diagnostic methods; Quantitative sensory testing; QST; Chronic pain; Endodontics;

    Sammanfattning : The overall goal of this thesis was to broaden our knowledge of chronic intraoral pain. The research questions were:•What methods can be used to differentiate inflammatory, odontogenic tooth pain from pain that presents as toothache but is non-odontogenic in origin?•What is the prognosis of chronic tooth pain of non-odontogenic origin, and which factors affect the prognosis?Atypical odontalgia (AO) is a relatively rare but severe and chronic pain condition affecting the dentoalveolar region. 4. 4. Fundamental Studies on Direct Injection Nebulisers for Sample Introduction in ICP Spectrometry : Aerosol Properties, ICP Characteristics and Analytical Performance

    Författare :Daniel Goitom Asfaha; Wolfgang Frech; Ralph Edward Sturgeon; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ICP; ICP-MS; ICP-OES; sample introduction; DIHEN; Vulkan DIN; non-spectral interferences; noise power spectra; analytical precision; plasma diagnostic parameters; particle dynamic analysis PDA ; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The performance of different types of nebulisers: Vulkan direct injection nebuliser (Vulkan DIN), direct injection high efficiency nebuliser (DIHEN), microconcentric nebuliser coupled to cyclonic or double pass spray chamber (MCN-C or MCN-DP, respectively) was investigated and compared when used for sample introduction to ICP-MS or ICP-OES. With ICP-OES, in axial viewing mode, intensity distributions across the radius of the plasma (radial intensity profiles) were determined for different spectral lines with Esum 1. LÄS MER
