  1. 1. Fundamental Studies on Direct Injection Nebulisers for Sample Introduction in ICP Spectrometry : Aerosol Properties, ICP Characteristics and Analytical Performance

    Författare :Daniel Goitom Asfaha; Wolfgang Frech; Ralph Edward Sturgeon; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ICP; ICP-MS; ICP-OES; sample introduction; DIHEN; Vulkan DIN; non-spectral interferences; noise power spectra; analytical precision; plasma diagnostic parameters; particle dynamic analysis PDA ; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The performance of different types of nebulisers: Vulkan direct injection nebuliser (Vulkan DIN), direct injection high efficiency nebuliser (DIHEN), microconcentric nebuliser coupled to cyclonic or double pass spray chamber (MCN-C or MCN-DP, respectively) was investigated and compared when used for sample introduction to ICP-MS or ICP-OES. With ICP-OES, in axial viewing mode, intensity distributions across the radius of the plasma (radial intensity profiles) were determined for different spectral lines with Esum 1. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Analysis of ICP pulsatility and CSF dynamics : the pulsatility curve and effects of postural changes, with implications for idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus

    Författare :Sara Qvarlander; Anders Eklund; Jan Malm; Richard Birgander; Martin U Schuhmann; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cerebrospinal fluid; CSF dynamics; Intracranial pressure; Pulse pressure; Normal pressure hydrocephalus; Posture; Predictive tests; Mathematical modelling; Magnetic resonance imaging; Infusion tests;

    Sammanfattning : The volume defined by the rigid cranium is shared by the brain, blood and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). With every heartbeat the arterial blood volume briefly increases and venous blood and CSF are forced out of the cranium, leading to pulsatility in CSF flow and intracranial pressure (ICP). LÄS MER

  3. 3. On severe traumatic brain injury : aspects of an intra cranial pressure-targeted therapy based on the Lund concept

    Författare :Magnus Olivecrona; Lars-Owe D Koskinen; Bertil Romner; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; severe traumatic brain injury; ICP targeted therapy; ICP; hemicraniectomy; seizures; prostacyclin; microdialysis; outcome; S100B; NSE; Neurosurgery; Neurokirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Severe Traumatic Brain Injury (sTBI) is a major cause of mortality and morbidity. At the Department of Neurosurgery Umeå University Hospital subjects with sTBI are treated with an intracranial pressure (ICP) guided therapy based on physiological principles, aiming to optimise the microcirculation of the brain so avoiding secondary brain injuries. 4. 4. On evolution of intracranial changes after severe traumatic brain injury and its impact on clinical outcome

    Författare :Lukas Bobinski; Lars-Owe Koskinen; Magnus Olivecrona; Peter Lindvall; Marklund Niklas; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Severe traumatic brain injury; ICP targeted therapy; ICP; decompressive craniectomy; S100B; NSE; cranioplasty; neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery;

    Sammanfattning : Severe traumatic brain injury (sTBI) is a cause of death and disability worldwide and requires treatment at specialized neuro-intensive care units (NICU) with a multimodal monitoring approach. The CT scan imaging supports the monitoring and diagnostics. The level of S100B and neuron specific enolase (NSE) reflects the severity of the injury. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Dynamic principles in craniofacial surgery. Expander elements in craniofacial surgery

    Författare :Fredrik Gewalli; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Scaphocephaly; Brachycephaly; Dynamic cranioplasty; Pi-procedure; DCB; Expander elements; Distraction; Mental development; ICP; Cephalometry; Cephalic index;

    Sammanfattning : Lannelongue & Lane described strip removal of ossified skull sutures in craniosynostosis in the 1890s. More complex osteotomies with bone grafting were developed during the 1960s. Dynamic techniques, utilizing force to direct the growing brain for skull reshaping was introduced by Jane 1978 with the p-plasty for sagittal synostosis. LÄS MER
