  1. 6. Crystallization and Differentiation Processes in the Thin Layered Alkali Gabbroic Intrusions of the Ulvö Gabbro Complex, Central Sweden

    Författare :Johan Hogmalm; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; layered intrusion; fractional crystallization; modal layering; in situ crystallization; Ulvö; saucer-shaped sill; post-cumulus; LA ICP-MS;

    Sammanfattning : Fractional crystallization of magma is a commonly invoked mechanism for chemical differentiation in systems that range from volcanoes to entire planets. However, the processes that control separation of crystals and liquids in natural systems remain controversial, since the dynamics of crystallizing magma chambers cannot be studied directly. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Structure and Mechanical/Transport properties of Single and Multilayer Polyethylene-based Materials

    Författare :Nazanin Alipour; Ulf Gedde; Mats Johansson; Monica Ek; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Deltamethrin; piperonyl butoxide; polyethylene; migration; multilayer film; EVOH; n-hexane; crystallization; mechanical properties; X-ray scattering; swelling;

    Sammanfattning : The current study discusses the structure, mechanical and transport properties of polyethylene-based materials into two parts. The first part deals with the migration and chemical depletion of active substance such as insecticides from moulded polyethylene sheets. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Thermodynamic Modelling of Electrolyte Solutions with Application to the Pulp and Paper Industry

    Författare :Anders Jaretun; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Potassium; Chloride; Chemical recovery; Leaching; Crystallization; Kraft pulping; Non-process elements; Solubility; Local composition; Excess properties; Osmotic coefficient; Electrolytes; Activity coefficient; Wood; pulp and paper technology; Pappers- och massateknik;

    Sammanfattning : A thermodynamic model for electrolyte solutions has been derived for binary and multicomponent solutions up to very high molalities. The model was extensively tested on 163 binary aqueous electrolyte systems up to very high molalities, and the results show that the model represents mean ionic activity coefficients and osmotic coefficients very accurately. 4. 9. Chemometric methods for analysis of spectroscopic data from batch process monitoring

    Författare :Erik Furusjö; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :in situ spectroscopy; reaction monitoring; organic synthesis; solubility; crystallization; multivariate calibration; curve resolution; kinetic model; reaction rate constant; activation energy; target testing; bootstrap;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding of a process is essential for processdevelopment, optimisation and scale-up. In situ spectroscopy isan attractive measurement technique that can increase processunderstanding, since samples need not be retrieved from theprocess mixture. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Structural, Kinetic and Thermodynamic Aspects of the Crystal Polymorphism of Substituted Monocyclic Aromatic Compounds

    Författare :Michael Svärd; Åke Rasmuson; Hugo Meekes; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymorphism; crystallization; thermodynamics; kinetics; nucleation; crystallography; solubility; phase equilibria; polymorphic transformation; solution history; metastable zone; classical theory of nucleation; two-step theory of nucleation; cluster; crystal structure prediction; lattice energy; molecular mechanics; force field; electrostatic potential; potential energy hypersurface; m-aminobenzoic acid; m-hydroxybenzoic acid; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This work concerns the interrelationship between thermodynamic, kinetic and structural aspects of crystal polymorphism. It is both experimental and theoretical, and limited with respect to compounds to substituted monocyclic aromatics. LÄS MER
