11. Recovery of Scandium using Antisolvent Crystallization in the Valorization of Scandium-containing Waste Streams
Sammanfattning : Scandium is widely dispersed in the earth’s crust and is rarely concentrated in ores, and a viable option to guarantee a secure supply of scandium is to recover the metal from waste streams of other mining and metallurgical facilities. The valorization of such streams to recover metals of value is a prerequisite to alleviate the global shortages of scandium and other rare earth elements. LÄS MER
12. Solubility and polymorphism of molecular compounds
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the controlled crystallization of small organic molecules and is focused on solubility and polymorphism. The solubility was determined for phenylacetic acid, p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid, p-aminophenylacetic acid, p-hydroxybenzoic acid and ibuprofen in both water and in a range of organic solvents. 13. Solid-liquid Phase Equilibria and Crystallization of Disubstituted Benzene Derivatives
Sammanfattning : The Ph.D. project compiled in this thesis has focused on the role of the solvent in solid-liquid phase equilibria and in nucleation kinetics. Six organic substances have been selected as model compounds, viz. LÄS MER
14. Origin and composition of the Hällefors composite dyke, central Sweden
Sammanfattning : The Hällefors dyke is a large, wedge-shaped high-level intrusion that trends E-W and has a subvertical dip, the overall dimensions being about 42 km in length and 1 km in width. It was emplaced ca 1550 Ma ago in gneisses of the Svecokarelian (1950-1750 Ma) orogenic belt in south central Sweden. LÄS MER
15. Residual Stresses and Strains in Cross-linked Polyethylene Power Cable Insulation
Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is modeling of the manufacturing process of high voltage power cables with the aim of predicting residual stresses and strains in the cable insulation. The studied material is cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), which at room temperature is a semi-crystalline viscoelastic solid. LÄS MER
