  1. 21. Interaction-mediating sequences within class I viral fusion glycoproteins : their roles in viral infection and in applications

    Författare :Simin Zhang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Class I viral fusion glycoproteins facilitate fusion of the viral envelope with cell membranes and entry of the virus into the cell, through extensive short sequence-specific interactions. Regions mediating these interactions include the N-terminal hydrophobic fusion peptide, a pair of extended 4,3-hydrophobic heptad repeats (HRs), a membrane-active membrane proximal external region (MPER), a hydrophobic transmembrane domain and the cytoplasmic tail region. 2. 22. Minimal Residual Disease Assessment in Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

    Författare :Ingrid Thörn; Christer Sundström; Richard Rosenquist; Gisela Barbany; Johan Botling; Kjeld Schmiegelow; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia; minimal residual disease; IG TCR gene rearrangements; BCR-ABL1 fusion gene transcripts; real-time quantitative PCR; multicolor flow cytometry; Pathology; Patologi; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Traditionally, response to treatment in hematological malignancies is evaluated by light microscopy of bone marrow (BM) smears, but due to more effective therapies more sensitive methods are needed. Today, detection of minimal residual disease (MRD) using immunological and molecular techniques can be 100 times more sensitive than morphology. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Activation of the spike proteins of alpha- and retroviruses

    Författare :Shang-Rung Wu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Alphavirus; Retrovirus; Fusion protein; electron cryomicroscopy; intermediate structure;

    Sammanfattning : Enveloped viruses like human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) enter cells by fusing their membrane with that of the cell plasma membrane, while others, like influenzavirus and alphavirus enter via uptake into endosomes and fusion with the endosomal membrane. For this they carry spike proteins. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Effects of mutations in lymphoid malignancy and immunodeficiency disease

    Författare :Abdulrahman M Hamasy; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Mutations are responsible for causing various human diseases, including several types of cancer and immunodeficiency syndromes. They can either be involved directly in the pathogenesis of the disease or by influencing the treatment efficacy and cause failure of the patient’s response to a specific therapy by adapting the targeted cell to resist the treatment. 5. 25. Hybrid modelling in condition monitoring

    Författare :Urko Leturiondo; Diego Galar; Uday Kumar; Oscar Salgado; Giulio D'Emilia; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Drift och underhållsteknik; Operation and Maintenance;

    Sammanfattning : Assuring the reliability, availability, maintainability and safety of assets is key to business success. A logical first step is to consider the requirements of assets in the design process. However, these concepts must also be assured during the assets’ operation. Consequently, it is important to have knowledge of their actual condition. LÄS MER
