  1. 1. Extreme hemodilution: Effects of inhalation anesthetics, hypoxia, and blood loss. An Experimental study in pigs

    Författare :Henning Schou; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anaesthesiology; oxygen saturation.; blood volume; coronary circulation; blood lactate; oxygen uptake; Anemia; oxygen delivery; intensive care; Anestesiologi; intensivvård;

    Sammanfattning : Hemodilution reduces the need for blood transfusion and hereby the risk for transmission of infectious agents. The present study investigated effects on systemic and myocardial circulation and oxygenation, and blood lactate concentrations; induced by nitrous oxide, isoflurane, hypoxia, and uncompensated blood loss, in pigs hemodiluted to a hematocrit of 11%. 2. 2. Acute, ambulatory and central blood pressure measurements in diabetes

    Författare :Magnus Wijkman; Fredrik Nyström; Carl Johan Östgren; Toste Länne; Jan Östergren; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Ambulatory blood pressure; Arterial stiffness; Central blood pressure; Diabetes; Hypertension.;

    Sammanfattning : Background: In patients with diabetes, high blood pressure is an established risk factor for cardiovascular disease. The aim of this thesis was to explore the associations between blood pressure levels measured with different techniques and during different circumstances, and the degree of cardiovascular organ damage and subsequent prognosis in patients with diabetes. 3. 3. Proteomic, metabolomic, and microbiome studies of blood pressure

    Författare :Yi-Ting Lin; Johan Sundström; Martin Magnusson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Blood pressure; hypertension; proteomics; metabolomics; microbiome; molecular epidemiology; Mendelian randomization;

    Sammanfattning : Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease and premature death with a substantial global economic burden. To prevent and treat hypertension, it is crucial to improve our understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms. Hypertension is a multifactorial condition influenced both by genetic and environmental factors. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography of the aortoiliac arteries

    Författare :Johan Wikström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Magnetic resonance imaging; Magnetic resonance angiography; Contrast media; Arteriosclerosis; Iliac artery; Blood pressures; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; radiologi; Radiology;

    Sammanfattning : In contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA),vascular signal is produced by the acquisition of a T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging scan while the presence of a contrast agent induces a low T1 in blood. In this thesis,CE-MRA of the aortoiliac arteries was evaluated. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Psychosocial stress in relation to blood pressure and cardivascular disease - epidemiological and genetic aspects

    Författare :Bertil Öhlin; Internmedicin - epidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kardiovaskulära systemet; receptor; Cardiovascular system; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; adrenergic; alpha-2; beta-1; mortality; morbidity; prospective; studies; polymorphism; work; stress; blood pressure; hypertension;

    Sammanfattning : Psychosocial stress has been linked to both hypertension and cardiovascular disease (CVD), and hypertension has been proposed to be one mediator of the increased CVD risk in subjects reporting stress. Genetic susceptibility for blood pressure elevation in relation to stress has been proposed, but so far there is little evidence. LÄS MER
