  1. 1. Local recurrence after breast conserving surgery in breast cancer

    Författare :Irma Fredriksson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Breast Cancer; Breast Conserving Surgery; Radiotherapy; Local Recurrence; Axillary Recurrence; Risk Factors; Distant Metastasis; Cohort Study; Case-Control Study;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis was to gain increased insight into the problem of local recurrences after breast conserving surgery for breast cancer. In a population-based cohort of 4,694 women with invasive breast cancer, operated in 1981 to 1990 and followed through 1997, we studied how breast conserving surgery had been adopted into clinical practice. 2. 2. Sentinel Node Biopsy in Breast Cancer : Clinical and Immunological Aspects

    Författare :Jana de Boniface; Leif Bergkvist; Annika Håkansson; Omgo Nieweg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Surgery; breast cancer; tumour immunology; sentinel node biopsy; CD3-zeta; CD28; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : The most important prognostic factor in breast cancer is the axillary lymph node status. The sentinel node biopsy (SNB) is reported to stage the axilla with an accuracy > 95 % in early breast cancer. Tumour-related perturbation of T-cell function has been observed in patients with malignancies, including breast cancer. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Optimizing the magnetic tracer technique for sentinel lymph node detection and tumour localization in breast cancer surgery

    Författare :Allan Jazrawi; Andreas Karakatsanis; Staffan Eriksson; Fredrik Wärnberg; Jonas Manjer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast Cancer; Sentinel Node; Super paramagnetic ironoxide nanoparticles; SPIO; Skin Staining; Magnetic resonance imaging; magnetic seed; guidewire; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women, and the primary treatment modalities are still breast-conserving surgery (BCS) and sentinel lymph node dissection (SLND) in most cases. Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIO) are gaining momentum as a tracer for sentinel lymph node detection. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Integration of Tumor and Host Factors – Implications for Breast Cancer Prognosis

    Författare :Maria Simonsson; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Nyckelord :Breast Cancer; Prognosis and survival; CYP1A2; CYP2C8; Coffee Consumption; Alcohol Consumption; Cyclooxygenase-2 COX-2 ;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide, although the mortality rates have decreased in the last decades. Breast cancer is a heterogeneous disease, and treatment resistance is a significant clinical problem in spite of the overall high survival rates. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Genetic polymorphisms in breast cancer in relation to risk and prognosis

    Författare :Erika Bågeman; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; age at diagnosis; breast cancer; polymorphism; CYP1A2; IGF1; GSTM1; CYP2C9; CYP2C8; coffee; GSTT1; ER; parity;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women living in Sweden and the second most common cancer in the rest of the world. The risk of developing breast cancer is modified by environment, lifestyle, genetics and a combination of these factors. LÄS MER
