  1. 1. Artery Wall Imaging and Effects of Postmenopausal Estrogen Therapy

    Författare :Kenny A. Rodriguez-Macias Wallberg; Tord Naessén; Lars-Åke Mattsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; artery wall thickness; tunica media; tunica intima; arterial stiffness; carotid; aorta; cardiovascular disease; atherosclerosis; menopause; estrogen; hormone therapy; ultrasound; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Postmenopausal estrogen therapy, initiated early in the menopause, seems to protect against development of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases. This thesis concerns studies of artery wall thickness and arterial stiffness estimated by noninvasive ultrasound techniques in long-term estrogen treated postmenopausal women who initiated therapy at the time of the menopause. 2. 2. On the Winds of Carbon Stars and the Origin of Carbon : A Theoretical Study

    Författare :Lars Mattsson; Susanne Höfner; Nils Bergvall; Kjell Olofsson; Martin Groenewegen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; AGB stars; carbon stars; mass loss; stellar winds; circumstellar matter; cosmic dust; stellar evolution; nucleosynthesis; galactic chemical evolution; Astronomy and astrophysics; Astronomi och astrofysik; Astronomy; Astronomi; Fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon is the basis for life, as we know it, but its origin is still largely unclear. Carbon-rich Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) stars (carbon stars) play an important rôle in the cosmic matter cycle and may contribute most of the carbon in the Galaxy. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Neurogenic bladder and bowel dysfunction : Clinical aspects in children with spinal dysraphism

    Författare :Peter Wide; Karel Duchén; Sven Mattsson; Gunilla Glad Mattsson; Sivert Lindström; Maria Hertelius; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Spinal dysraphism (SD) is a congenital malformation that to a varying extent, often severely, affects the life of the child and the family. Most individuals with SD suffer from neurogenic bladder and bowel dysfunction—with the risk of urinary tract infections, renal deterioration, urinary and fecal incontinence—that affects social participation and quality of life negatively. 4. 4. Architecting model driven system integration in production engineering

    Författare :Yujiang Li; Lars Mattsson; Gunilla Franzén Sivard; Torsten J. A. Kjellberg; Mikael Hedlind; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; System architecture; system integration; information model; ISO 10303; application context; implementation context; implementation model.; Production Engineering; Industriell produktion;

    Sammanfattning : System integration is a key enabler to maximize information value in an engineering context. The valuable information is normally represented by information models which play a decisive role in the implementation of system integration. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Reducing and absorbing variations in a manufacturing context : A capacity management perspective

    Författare :Lisa Hedvall; Joakim Wikner; Stig-Arne Mattsson; Mats Johansson; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; capacity management; variation management; buffer management; manufacturing companies; manufacturing planning and control; kapacitetsadministration; variationsadministration; buffertadministration; tillverkande företag; material- och produktionsstyrning;

    Sammanfattning : Variations can have substantially negative effects on performance and it is therefore important to investigate how the variations can be reduced or absorbed in an appropriate way for competitiveness. Manufacturing companies are daily exposed to variations and operations managers need to take capacity management decisions with this in mind to secure the delivery capability. LÄS MER
