36. Numerical Modeling of Turbulent Gas-Particle Flow
Sammanfattning : This work presents a theoretical and numerical study of gas-particle two-phase flow within the Eulerian framework. Although gas-particle flows have been extensively studied, there is still no general agreement on the constitutive equations for an Eulerian-Eulerian model in which the dispersed phase is treated as a continuum, i.e. a granular fluid. 37. Dynamics of higher order chromatin structures
Sammanfattning : During the last few decades, the intensive focus on microscopy observations and genome sequencing analyses has proved that the genomic DNA is packaged in the non-random manner in the nucleus of interphase cells. Accumulated evidence have thus documented that the chromatin organization in 3D plays key roles in central biological processes, such as transcription, replication and DNA repair. LÄS MER
38. Multiscale Modeling of Interfaces
Sammanfattning : Understanding strength and stability of interfaces between dissimilar materials or phases is a highly active field of contemporary materials research. Knowledge of interface structure and energetics is important for modeling of complex materials both on a mechanical and thermodynamical level as well as for many functional properties. LÄS MER
39. Complex correlations between microstructure and magnetic behavior in hard nanomagnets : A study of the structural and magnetic properties of SrFe12O19 nanocrystallites
Sammanfattning : Magnetic materials at the nanoscale are of huge scientific and technological interest, as theirmagnetic properties display remarkably different behavior compared to bulk-size. Among na-nostructured materials, M-type hexaferrite SrFe12O19 (SFO) nanoparticles (NPs) has becomeextremely appealing as promising candidate material for the renewal of permanent magnets ap-plications. 40. Molecular genetics of lymphoid malignancies
Sammanfattning : Advances in molecular genetics during the last decade has made it possible to identify genetic lesions in malignant cells that are specific for disease entities with a common clinical presentation and prognosis. In chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) deletions in 13ql4 are the most frequently occurring abnormalities and deletions cluster around marker D13S319 suggesting that a tumor suppressor gene is located in this region.
