  1. 21. Cardiovascular outcomes and extra-articular manifestations in patients with spondyloarthritis

    Författare :Karin Bengtsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Spondyloarthritis; Cardiovascular disease; Extra-articular manifestations;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Spondyloarthritis (SpA) is a cluster of rheumatic diseases with similar clinical features, including association with extra-articular manifestations such as anterior uveitis (AU), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and psoriasis. Ankylosing spondylitis (AS), psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and undifferentiated SpA (uSpA) are the major subtypes of SpA. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Ventilatory-perfusion relationships and respiratory drive in chronic obstructive pulmanory disease : with special reference to hypoxaemia, sleep quality and treatment with inhaled corticisteroid

    Författare :Karin Sandek; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : By measuring retention in blood and excretion in exhaled air of six infused inert gases using multiple inert gas technique (MIGET), it is possible to obtain detailed assessment of the ventilation-perfusion (VA/Q) relationships in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Stable, non-bronchitic COPD patients show a substantial perfusion of hyper-ventilated lung regions. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Management of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms and dissections : with emphasis on spinal cord protection in aneurysm repair and non-surgical treatment of type-B dissection

    Författare :Anders Winnerkvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Aortic cross-clamping; cerebrospinal fluid drainage; GFAp; NFL; retrograde venous spinal cord perfusion; somatosensory evoked potentials; S100B; thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm; type B aortic dissection.;

    Sammanfattning : Thoraco-abdominal aortic aneurysms and dissections are two very serious disease processes which entail a high risk of vessel rupture and death. Their specific treatment strategies have several similarities which have formed a base for this thesis. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Risk factors and comorbidity in primary Sjögren’s syndrome

    Författare :Johannes Mofors; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Primary Sjögren’s syndrome is an autoimmune disease, in which the immune system targets the exocrine glands. The disease is characterized by inflammation and dysfunction of the salivary and lacrimal glands, leading to dry eyes and mouth. The etiopathogenesis of autoimmune diseases is not entirely known. 5. 25. Langerhans cells in oral mucosa and skin. A functional and morphological study

    Författare :Bengt Hasséus; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Langerhans cells (LC) are a subpopulation of dendritic cells residing in skin and mucosal epi-thelium. LC capture antigens in the periphery and following migration to regional lymph nodes present peptides to T cells. LCs have a central role in initiating a T cell mediated immune re-sponse, both in health and disease. LÄS MER
