21. A Study on Particle Motion and Deposition Rate : Application in Steel Flows
Sammanfattning : Non-metallic inclusions in molten steel have received worldwide attention due to their serious influence on both the steel product quality and the steel production process. These inclusions may come from the de-oxidation process, the re-oxidation by air and/or slag due to an entrainment during steel transfer, and so on. LÄS MER
22. Interactions of cellulose and model surfaces
Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is fundamental surface force and friction studies of silica and cellulose surfaces, performed mainly with the atomic force microscope (AFM). The normal interactions between model cellulose surfaces have been found to consist of a longer range double layer force with a short range steric interaction, the nature of which is extensively discussed. 23. Studies of plasma-facing materials and macromolecules using scanning probe microscopy
Sammanfattning : The main topic of this thesis is experimental analysis of material surfaces using scanning probe microscopies. These microscopes are used for characterization through high-resolution topographical imaging, but also for controlled modification of surfaces and molecules. LÄS MER
24. Rheological properties of lubricating fluids
Sammanfattning : Obliteration (gobbing) caused by water based lubricating fluids is studied experimentally by analyzing the flow through a small channel. Flow measurements, energy dispersive X-ray microscopy and photos show, that the rate of gobbing depends on which type of fluid that is being used. LÄS MER
25. Impact of Surface Structures onDeposition and Erosion in a Tokamak
Sammanfattning : Fusion is a potentially unlimited and environmentally friendly energy source for human society in the future. However, along the way towards the application of fusion energy there are still unresolved complications. Among them, deposition and erosion are two critical issues. LÄS MER
