  2. 17. Mechanisms of transendothelial and tissue transport in the peritoneum. Experimental studies on rat

    Författare :Bert-Inge Rosengren; Njurmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nefrologi; Urologi; hyaluronan; interstitium; blood flow; rat; pore; inhibition; temperature; peritoneal dialysis; permeability; capillary; protein; passive; active; transport; transcytosis; vesicle; Urology; nephrology; small solute;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, the quantitative role of active transport (transcytosis) in bulk transvascular protein movement in vivo was evaluated. Using chemical transcytosis inhibition (N-ethylmaleimide (NEM) and filipin), we were able to show that NEM actually increases endothelial permeability to macromolecules, probably as a result of unspecific toxic action on endothelial cells. 3. 18. Molecular mechanisms in synaptic vesicle recycling

    Författare :Joel Jakobsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Neurons communicate through specialized contacts called synapses, which consist of pre- and postsynaptic compartments separated by a narrow synaptic cleft. The stimulus- dependent rapid influx of calcium ions into the presynaptic compartment induces fusion of neurotransmitter-filled vesicles with the plasma membrane and release of their content into the synaptic cleft. 4. 19. Lipid Nanotube Networks: Shape Transitions and Insights into the Dynamics of Self-Organization

    Författare :Tatsiana Lobovkina; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; circular nanotube; shape transition; enzymatic reaction; nanotube knot; self-organization; liposome; lipid nanotube; lipid vesicle; nanotube-vesicle network;

    Sammanfattning : Nanotube-vesicle networks (NVNs) are simplified models of cell membrane tubular systems which are dynamic transportation routs for molecular cargoes in biological cells. The presented work describes dynamic properties of NVNs such as self-organization, shape and topology transformations; moreover, specific geometric properties of the networks are used for controlling enzymatic reactions. 5. 20. Exploring Cellular Dynamics : From Vesicle Tethering to Cell Migration

    Författare :Parham Ashrafzadeh; Johan Kreuger; Jonas Fuxe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; angiogenesis; cancer; cell migration; exocyst complex; exocytosis; FGD5; lipid rafts; plasma membrane; receptor trafficking; VEGFR2;

    Sammanfattning : Cells in the body communicate with each other in order to cooperate efficiently. This communication is in part achieved by regulated secretion of signaling molecules, which when released from a cell may activate receptors present at the plasma membrane of an adjacent cell. Such signals affect both cell fate and behavior. LÄS MER
