  1. 21. Development and Implementations of Virtual Reality for Urban Planning and Building Design

    Författare :Mattias Roupé; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Building Information Model; Usability; Urban planning; 3D-City models; Virtual Reality; Building design;

    Sammanfattning : The use of Virtual Reality (VR) has been seen by many as holding great potential in increasing the effectiveness and improving communication in the decision making process in urban planning and building design. VR can faulitate processes so that participants can better understand, identify and analyze problems together to improve their decision making and the future urban environment. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Urban Design and Space Use. A Study of Dar es Salaam City Centre

    Författare :Jacob L Kimaryo; Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö; []

    Sammanfattning : Albeit there is a general consensus that urban design in the twentieth century failed in relation to space use, systematic research on this aspect has been very limited or at most inadequate in the developing countries. This study focuses on the above failure of urban design in this century with specific reference to the developing countries through an analysis of Dar es Salaam city centre, Tanzania. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Urban Form and Mobility - Analysis and Information to Catalyse Sustainable Development

    Författare :Todor Stojanovski; Andrew Karvonen; Tigran Haas; Karl Kottenhoff; Haris N. Koutsopoulos; Lars-Göran Mattsson; Cervero Robert; KTH; []

    Sammanfattning : Urban transportation today consumes scarce resources of fossil fuels and it is a major cause for environmental damage and accelerating climate change. To achieve sustainable mobility in the cities, it is necessary to improve energy efficiency and lower carbon emissions through the promotion of walking, cycling and especially public transportation. 4. 24. Sociotechnical Knowledge. An Operationalised Approach to Localised Infrastructure Planning and Sustainable Urban Development

    Författare :Jaan-Henrik Kain; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; process; critical realism; sociotechnical; strategic choice approach; sustainable development; practice; action; social construction; decision-making; capital; implementation; infrastructure; urban; actor network theory; local; systems theory; design; partnerships; planning;

    Sammanfattning : In processes of urban infrastructural reconfiguration, there is a counterproductive tension between tendencies of de-monopolisation and market liberalisation, on the one hand, and ambitions for sustainable urban development, drawing on Keynesian reformism and ecological modernisation, on the other. In this thesis, the aim is to overcome this tension and to facilitate a concrete operationalisation of the notion &'sustainable urban development' within concrete and localised processes of planning, design, decision-making and implementation. Sammanfattning : Spatial lock-ins may hinder the physical environment from adapting to new conditions and thereby risk to inhibit necessary change in society and reproduce current structures.This process reinforces uneven geographic development and urban interpretive prerogative. LÄS MER
