6. Contributions of Satellite Geodesy to Post-Glacial Rebound Research
Sammanfattning : Glacial Isostatic Adjustment (GIA) is a global and long-term process in the Earth, which began 21.5 millennia ago, according to many ice history modellers. One way to understand the processes of the Earth’s interior, the crustal deformation, and a key correction to estimate the climatological parameters is obtained by studying GIA. LÄS MER
7. Essays on energy efficiency, environmental regulation and labor demand in Swedish industry
Sammanfattning : Paper [I] Energy efficiency improvement (EEI) benefits the climate and matters for energy security. The potential emission and energy savings due to EEI may however not fully materialize due to the rebound effect. LÄS MER
8. Perspectives on low carbon lifestyles
Sammanfattning : Climate change is one of the most severe problems facing the world today. If extensive measures are not undertaken to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within the near future, the natural conditions under which life depends will change for the worse (Pachauri et al, 2014). 9. Space Geodesy Techniques: An Experimental and Theoretical Study of Antenna Related Error Sources
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents work associated with antenna related error sources, as well as antenna design, in space geodesy utilizing the techniques of Very-Long-Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) and the Global Positioning System (GPS). Geodetic VLBI uses large radio telescopes, often in global networks observing at least a few times per year. LÄS MER
10. Income, Energy Taxation, and the Environment : An Econometric analysis
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four papers: two of them deal with the relationship between consumption, energy taxation, and emissions on macro level, and two of them focuses on the effects of changes in consumption and income on the environmental quality on a micro level. The main objective of paper [I] is to examine how exogenous technological progress, in terms of an increase in energy efficiency, affects consumption choice by Swedish households and thereby emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), sulphur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxide (NOx).
