1. The evolution of upper Norrland's ports and loading places 1750-1976
Sammanfattning : Models of port development have hitherto concentrated on landward communications and the organization of maritime space in their explanation of changes in port location and activity. This study demonstrates that the level of economic development in hinterlands together with industrial and marine technology are also significant factors and indeed play leading roles in the process of port evolution. 2. Building a national maritime security policy
Sammanfattning : The issue of port security raised concerns at the highest levels after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 against the United States. Security threats against ports and vessels acquired a new perspective and in 2002 the International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted amendments to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), 1974, introducing Chapter XI-2 - Special measures to enhance maritime security. 3. Tools, Techniques, and Trade-offs when Porting Large Software Systems to New Environments
Sammanfattning : Computer hardware and software evolve very fast. With the advent of chip-multiprocessors and symmetric multithreading, multiprocessor hardware configurations are becoming prevalent. LÄS MER
4. Characterization of MIMO Antennas and Terminals: Measurements in Reverberation Chambers
Sammanfattning : The reverberation chamber (RC) has drawn attention as a multipath emulator over the past decade for both passive and active over-the-air (OTA) tests. The overview of this thesis is given in Chapter 1. LÄS MER
5. Characterization of Small Antennas & Wireless Devices for MIMO Systems in Multipath & Line-of-Sight
Sammanfattning : The current thesis investigates over-the-air (OTA) performance characterization of small antennas and wireless terminals in rich isotropic multipath (RIMP) environment, as well as in pure line-of-sight (LOS) environment when taking into account the random positions and orientations of the mobile terminals caused by the realistic user behavior. The latest mobile wireless terminals such as smart phones and tablets can be used in any random orientation thereby making even a received LOS-component appear as a random voltage at the antenna ports over time.
