  1. 1. Visualizing the abyss of time : Students’ interpretation of visualized deep evolutionary time

    Författare :Jörgen Stenlund; Konrad Schönborn; Lena Tibell; Gunnar Höst; Camillia Matuk; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Deep evolutionary time; Visualization; Evolution; Science Education; Djup evolutionär tid; Visualiseringar; Naturvetenskapernas didaktik;

    Sammanfattning : The immense time scales involved in Deep evolutionary time (DET) is a threshold concept in biology and interpreting temporal aspects of DET is demanding. DET is communicated through various visualizations that include static two-dimensional representations, low interactivity animations, as well as high interactivity interfaces. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On Dental Trauma in Children and Adolescents : Incidence, Risk, Treatment, Time and Costs

    Författare :Ulf Glendor; Arne Halling; Lars Andersson; Åke Nygren; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :adolescence; child; time; incidence; costs; permanent dentition; primary dentition; risk; tooth injuries; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Dental trauma occur in childhood and adolescence with consequences in time and costs for both patient and family. The scientific knowledge of these matters is scarce. For some individuals, dental trauma will result in long, time-consuming and costly treatments in childhood which will continue into adulthood. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Figures of time : on the phenomenology of cinema and temporality

    Författare :Malin Wahlberg; Michael Renov; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; film theory; phenomenology; aesthetic theory; temporality; duration; speed; photography; city film; documentary; experimental cinema; Film; Filmvetenskap; Cinema Studies; filmvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Image and time represent a favored issue among theorists and practitioners in the history of cinema, where discussion is related to the ingenious machine, the new art, as well as the experience of film. Looking back on this debate, and considering recent accounts of 'time-images,' it is striking to note how the problem has always oscillated between issues of the medium specific and issues of film experience; that is, the ontology of cinema as a time-bound medium, the quality of rhythm, duration, and recorded views, and, not least, the sensory and affective impact of mediated sound-images. 4. 4. Functional modelling of the human timing mechanism

    Författare :Guy Madison; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; Brain mechanisms; Brownian motion; drift; dynamical systems; fractal; human; Gaussian noise; Hurst exponent; time; time series analysis; timing; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; fysiologi; Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Behaviour occurs in time, and precise timing in the range of seconds and fractions of seconds is for most living organisms necessary for successful interaction with the environment. Our ability to time discrete actions and to predict events on the basis of prior events indicates the existence of an internal timing mechanism. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Breast cancer screening in an urban, Swedish population Aspects of non-attendance, interval cancers and over-diagnosis

    Författare :Sophia Zackrisson; Kardiovaskulär forskning - epidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; epidemiologi; mammography; epidemiology; Folkhälsa; Public health; non-attenders; socio-economic factors; lead time; interval cancer; over-diagnosis; service screening; breast cancer screening;

    Sammanfattning : Service screening with mammography was implemented in Sweden in the late 80's, following the results from trials in Sweden and abroad. A high rate of attendance, a high diagnostic accuracy and treatment in accordance with established guidelines are key circumstances for an effective screening programme. LÄS MER
