  1. 6. Structure-Control of the Rheological Behaviour of Particulate Gels

    Författare :Camilla Olsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; structure formation; potato amylopectin; structure deformation; rheology; particulate gels; image analysis; beta-lactoglobulin; fracture mechanics; microstructure;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is the relation between the rheological and structural properties of mixed particulate gels, based on β-lactoglobulin, determined under both dynamic and static conditions. Rheological characteristics were recorded during formation of the gels, on set gels and during deformation and fracture of the gels, using viscoelastic measurements in shear and in compression and fracture mechanics in tension. 2. 7. Hydration, pore structure, and related moisture properties of fly ash blended cement-based materials : Experimental methods and laboratory measurements

    Författare :Oskar Linderoth; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cement; Murbruk; Betong; Hydratation; Porstruktur; Sorption; Fukttransport; Mineraliska tillsatsmaterial; Flygaska; Cement; Mortar; Concrete; Hydration; Pore structure; Water vapour sorption; Moisture transport; Supplementary cementitious materials; Fly ash;

    Sammanfattning : Cement-based materials, such as mortar and concrete, are the most employed construction materials in the world. Cement is an important component; it reacts with water to form a glue, called cement paste, which causes the material to harden. Today, cement production accounts for a significant portion of the world’s annual carbon dioxide emissions. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Gluten Protein-Based Microcellular Foams and Composites: Development and Functional Properties

    Författare :Thomas Blomfeldt; Mikael Hedenqvist; Mats K G Johansson; Lars Kloo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Wheat Gluten; Foam; Freeze-drying; Glycerol; Bacterial cellulose; Pore structure; Protein structure; Compression; Thermal conductivity; Combustion;

    Sammanfattning : Most common foams are produced from non-renewable resources (e.g., synthetic plastics),with a number of environmental concerns, hence there is a demand for alternative bio-derivedfoam materials. Wheat gluten protein is widely known to have excellent foaming properties(e. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Enhancing the stability of probiotics: Freeze-drying and encapsulation

    Författare :Shuai Bai; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; freeze-drying; lyophilization; L.ruteri; Probiotics; Lyoprotectant; Structure; Encapsulating material; Pore size; Material thickness; SEM; Tomography; Storage stability; Amorphous sugars; Glass transition temperature; DSC;

    Sammanfattning : This research dives into the intricate world of freeze-drying, an essential process in pharmaceutical and probiotic industries, to better understand the factors affecting probiotic stability during storage. The process of freeze-drying and the composition of freeze-dried products significantly affect the stability of probiotics, yet factors such as the material’s encapsulation properties remain relatively unexplored, demanding further research. 5. 10. Structure of Hardened Cement-Fly Ash Systems and Their Related Properties

    Författare :Aimin Xu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; water vapour sorption isotherms; thermogravity analysis; mortar; scanning electron microscopy; differential thermal analysis; X-ray diffraction analysis; fly ash; pore structure; microstructure; cement paste;

    Sammanfattning : The influence of fly ash on the pore structure and microstructure of cement paste and mortar has been investigated. The methods applied include water vapour sorption isotherms, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis and thermogravity/differential thermal analysis. LÄS MER
